Halloween / Funeral Song - Friction Mix!

Bobby Friction | 15:12 UK time, Monday, 3 November 2008

At the beginning of last week I asked people who listen to the show, and people via my Face book page what song they would have played at their funeral.Ìý I assumed lots of Desi people would cite religious poems, spiritual tracks and mellow Bollywood numbers as the song to be played as they were buried/cremated. Well - I got a shock!

The 50 plus responses I got in the first 24 hours were a kaleidoscope of classic rock, classic cheesy beyond belief pop, and jokester pieces of music!Ìý At this point I was dared by my producer Helen to play these tracks in my Halloween mix - which I subsequently did!

This is how the mix panned out:-

Panjabi MC Mirza [Nachural]
Bruce Springsteen I'm On Fire [Columbia]
DJ Shadow Midnight In A Perfect World [Island/Mercury]
Gurdaas Maan Dillan Di Jaani [UK Box Office]
Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham (Sad Version) [Yash Raj Music]
Bee Gees Staying Alive [Atlantic]
Chef (from Southpark) Chocolate Salty Balls [Sony]
Disco Inferno Burn Baby Burn [Atlantic]
Queen Don't Stop Me Now [Hollywood Records]
Samuel Barber Adagio for Strings [Naxos]
The Jungle Book The Bare Necessities [Walt Disney]

I now fully understand the spiritual make up of my listeners!
