i think its disgraceful that the FIA have let renault off the hook after blatantly cheating, crashing and placing marshalls, competitors and fans at risk. a suspended ban? is this not a far worse offence than mclarens alledged cheating and they got a 50m fine.
this sport needs to 'man up' and get its house in order.
mosley needs to go.

I think the FIA have taken a long hard look at the various scenarios since the two men went of their own making. Do not forget that suspended ban is not getting off lightly as if Renault break even one of the minor rules the FIA could impose the ban. Renault also have not just been in Motor Sport just for the elite F1 class they have for some time put money into some of the grass roots / feeder championships that run alongside the BTCC events i.e. Renault Clio and the single seater Renault Formula class. It is to that extent that the FIA did not want to lose a long time and important contibutor to the sport.

In a money rich sport like F1, is it not a sham to give a team that has blatently broken the rules to the possible injury or death of driver and spectators a suspended sentence. They did not break into some ones home to steal, they did not fail to pay fines, they blatently cheated to enhance their position in the championship, they took the decision without thought for possible consequences, the governing body must get its house in order and grow a backbone.

Im new to the site, ive watched F1 since i was knee high to a grass hopper, but i am finding it hard to see a great sport being dragged through the mud every year. i have heard many people in formula 1 comment on how they love the sport, if this is so why are they doing so many things wrong to harm a sport that most of us would love to be involved in. MONEY! it has turned into a business that nobody seems to be able to control, F1 needs to find a coverning body and stewards able to control the rules properly and fairly for all the teams, before F1 kills it self.

I have to say Mr Walker that I have paid less attention to F1 in recent years due to a belief on my part, right or wrong, that race fixing was not an isolated occurrence.

I'm glad this has started to come out, but F1 must decide whether it is a high class travelling circus or a highly competitive and somewhat dangerous sport.

It is not the only sport which has this conundrum to address: tennis, rugby and even soccer must do so too.

I'm only one of millions of people who has paid good money over the past few years to watch high level sport, so I don't presume that my opinion is anything more than that.

But my opinion is: sport is no longer sport but an integral part of corporate marketing in which sporting contests take place with subliminal texts running through proceedings.

I would prefer if it were not like that.

Gutless is all I can say about the authorities, but what would you expect with money/Bernie and co running the shop?? What about Briatore being had up for attempted manslaughter charges? If your average Joe in the street pulled a stunt like that we'ed get the book thrown at us.

Do you think the FIA punishments are consistent or bias?
Renault are "let off". Their management should be accountable for their employees/staff decisions .

Do you think that Ferrari are making a mistake by employing Alonso?
Controversy seems to follow him where ever he goes.
No doubt he is a very good driver(almost as good as Hamilton-re 2007), but partnered with Massa it could be challenging for the team.

If the FIA had given Renault a bigger (more appropriate) penalty , do you think it could have affected their chances of competing in 2010?

as for this blog ross brawn wouldnt let two of his drivers knacker up a world title there will not be team orders and both given the same tools for the job if both drivers keep it clean and finish the races 1 and 2 thats what ross would like and may the best man win
as for whats happend on monday it was a fiasco a shambles whatever you want to call it and more to come unless a full revamp is done

After Renault being found guilty does the result of the 2008 Singapore GP stand? If not Lewis would have won the championship by a another 2 points and all the last lap exciment at brazil would not have happened

Just when I thought it was over - in Piquet's statement to the FIA, he claims that Briatore and Symonds called him to a meeting and gave him the order to crash. Yet, in Symonds statement, he claims the opposite, that Piquet approached him with the idea (which seems preposterous). So which is it, and why does no one seem to be noticing or asking?

If you could have a fantasy dream team & any two drivers for 2010/11 what and who would it be, based on the current performances?

regarding rubens and 2010 season, i'm thinking that he could be the driver that lotus could need for all the experience he has, do you think that would be a good move for him? as i really can't see him staying at brawn with jenson in 2010.

I know we all want to draw a line under "crashgate" and get on with the rest of the season but...Please, can someone let me know, Why Fernando Alfonso goes unpunished when, as the very experienced driver he is, he must have questioned the very unusual race strategy last year? Or is he, indeed witness "X"

Ecclestone’s failure to express his disgust at the actions of Briatore(& indeed to make light of them in TV interviews), suggesting that they didn’t do anything deserving a total & lifelong ban from the sport leads me to question his integrity & suitability to ‘lead’ this ‘sport’. (Does Tony Blair count as a good reference?).
I expected him to express a feeling of being betrayed by his close friend & business associate Briatore’s action & enraged by the newcomer Piquet’s conspiring to cheat & taking a metaphorical 'bag of silver'. Let's face it - Piquet only owned up to get revenge when he got the sack. We first heard it was a conspiracy known & developed by 2 men - then witness x came along; some may 'wonder' if we have the full story now.
Shame on you Bernie - you've totally lost my respect.

We all know how crucial making a good start is; what is there to prevent someone from making a 'false' start - jumping the 'lights out'? There MUST be something I'm sure
