Murray, please will you be my Grandad?

Ah, Murray. When I was a youngster you brought F1 to life for me, and, no doubt, countless others. Your uncontrollable enthusiasm, the excitement you exude, background knowledge, and the occasional Murrayism.. heady stuff. Since that first Sunday afternoon back in 1982 when I was 10 years old, I haven't missed a single race. I'm still glued to every race, every qualifying session, and every practice session too, but it just hasn't been the same since your retirement. You truly are a national treasure. A heartfelt thank you, on behalf of millions, for everything you have done for F1, and for its enthralled viewers. We love you.

I had an interest in F1 in 1997 when I was 4/5. Michael Schumacher pulled me to the sport and Murray gulled me to in with his enthusiasm which rubbed off on me and 13 years on is still sky high. Thanks Murray for the video and your years in Formula One :)

F1 regs come and go, teams will always develop new technologies to 'push the envelope'. What I really want to know is what Murray Walker puts in his breakfast, cus I want some!! Form is temporary, class is permanent.
Serious question for next time Murray: Why spend millions on greener, leaner engines for 2013 and do away with V8 engined cars. Waste of money or reflecting a greener agenda and F1 needs to be seen to cutting back on emissons?

Q: Exactly what do the drivers have to do to get their F1 car moving off the grid at the start of a race? What buttons, pedals and anything else do they have to operate and in what order?

I would like to see more commentry on what happens to clear up the track before the grand prix after the very extensive amounts of loose rubber on the circuit left in qualifying and pre race GT races.

Do you think Lotus will now drop the name in favour of the newly acquired Cateram brand?

Cateram seems odd on the side of an F1 car??

Murray please come back to commentate at Turkey.Many fans are really disappointed with the existing line up!!

The current lineup is superb and the best ever in my opinion. Murray was great but lets all move on.

Murray's commentary never worked for me, but clearly as an analyzer he is top notch and his knowledge is peerless. Yes it may be spouting the obvious at times, but then we all like to think we know a little something about this sport. His enthusiasm is infectious even into his later years. Particularly love his enthusiasm for things new which contradicts many of the stereotypes of a man of his age (are you reading Geoffrey Boycott?)

HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE IT IS SIR MURRAY WALKER ?

#12 vintly- It is a complicated process but Martin Brundle did a piece on it once. Apparently they have two clutches on the back of the sterring wheel that are only used at the race start and in pitstops. Therefore on race start they:-

-press break and rev engine

-release one clutch paddle and engage first gear with the same hand (prob right hand)

-Then release clutch to bite and give it the beans on the throttle (remembering the lack of traction control ofcourse)

Now ofcourse they also have to engage KERS as they move away and apparently each driver uses the red lights as they come on to time each step to perfection.

Have to agree with the Welshman...Sir Murray!
And bring him back to the box as well. Far better than the muppets we have currently on the telly. He's a star, and his knowledge is incredible. And his voice just fits perfectly to the commentary....Ahh the good old days.

When i die i am going to be cremated, and as i go through the curtain im going to have the chain playing and as my coffin goes through i will have Murray screaming at the top of his voice "AND THERE HE GOES" :) you are great Murray
