Franklin Graham's Odyssey
Stephen Nolan has so far received two on-air invitations to hear Dr Franklin Graham speak at this weekend's event at the Odyssey centre. I think there may be a campaign to try to convert the host of the biggest show in the country. On both occasions, Stephen pulled the plug on the call. But if he's wondering what he's missing, Billy Graham's son will be a guest on this week's Sunday Sequence.

It would be much more useful and informative to cover the RAS (Royal Astronomical Society) meeting in Belfast rather than talk about the religious business machine.
But - ask him about hurricanes, AIDs, Islam, evolution and the age of the earth.

The idea that a person could look like satan seems odd to me. do we not need to have a better understanding of him than that of cartoons?
Mabey you dont belive he exists, but if he does i think the chances are hes not going to be found in the walt-disney store.
why do you reduce satan to this in a mocking way? what is the point of laughing at him like this?
this provides no help to anyone wanting to take the question seriously. people need to read what the bible says if they are to make a dissicion on weather it is real or not. christians do not belive in a devil who's most distingishing feature is his tail.

You should really do you research before you write comments like that. The event at the Odyssey was totally free - no charge for entry and no offering collected.
Re: Freethinker and RAS. Since William's show is really about religion, ethics, philosophy etc. I don't think Sunday sequence is really the correct place for the RAS conference. The conference did receive adequate coverage on inside Ulster throughout last week, in my opinion.
However Freethinker, I can reveal that Billy Graham's daughter, Anne Graham Lotz is indeed a YEC. She was a guest on the programme from All Souls' church (an Anglican church in London), "book by book", which is presented by Rev. Richard Bewes and Dr. Paul Blackham (it's broadcast on UCB TV). Graham Lotz was a guest when the book of Genesis was covered. Blackham is also a YEC and put forward a YEC stance on the book. Neither Anne Graham Lotz nor Richard Bewes disagreed. I have been told that Blackham tried to foist YECism on All Souls a number of years ago and that the attempt was resisted by a number of members after something of a row in the church.
Franklin Graham is listed as a YEC in Wikipedia so that doesn't really surprise me after watching Anne Graham Lotz. Has Franklin Graham been to the creation Museum ? Given what is going on in the US at the moment I'm surprised William didn't ask Graham his view on the so-called "culture wars".

At least the Royal Astronomical Society exists to promote and extend our knowledge of the world, whereas Franklin Graham merely promotes ignorance, stupidity, hatred and gullibility. During the easy ride interview on Sunday Sequence he said that 鈥淚slam is a problem鈥. But he has said worse. In the wake of 9/11 he said that 鈥淚slam is an evil and wicked religion鈥 and that the attacks occurred because 鈥渨e are a Christian nation鈥. He commanded citizens to repent and 鈥淕et back to God鈥. He also said: 鈥淟et's use the weapons we have, the weapons of mass destruction if need be and destroy the enemy鈥. (CNN, September 14, 2001). In other words, let鈥檚 get back to the Crusades, with bullets and bombs instead of bows and broadswords.
Moreover, the good Samaritan parable has been hijacked and travestied by the organisation Samaritan鈥檚 Purse which he runs as propaganda to promote the superiority of Christian compassion to the indifference or wickedness of other religions 鈥 the precise opposite of the Good Samaritan story. And using the Jesus myth as a rallying cry for American imperialism is pretty remote from the man who was murdered by the forces of an earlier Empire, that of Rome.
