The failure of the police to even be bothered to get out of their car, investigate and take and file a written report proves that irrational hatred is alive and well throughout the mainstream of NI and Christianity as always rears it ugly head. When you can't bash Catholics anymore, you have to make do with homosexuals, Roumanians, Hindus, and whatever else you can find to scapegoat your own miserable shortcomings in life. I'll bet they miss the good old days. Catholics were so much easier to find. If this is how the police react, regardless of what the media says or the official government statements would have you believe, the long term prospects for peace in NI are very bleak. The leopard has not changed his spots, merely painted some of them over so they aren't so obvious.

Marcus, you have no knowledge of this crime, yet you seem to know already that the youths involved were Protestants. That centre sits on an interface, so the thugs could have been from either Catholic or Protestant side. The police response is being talked about too, but the police may have had very good operational reasons for doing what they did (to avoid drawing attention to the person who made the call). They went into the grounds, examined the area around the building and spoke to the caller on the phone. Best not to condemn what you do not understand, Marcus.

I've never heard of a legitimate police force in what is supposed to be a democratic country not bothering to investigate what may be a crime scene with their own eyes even if it's just to satisfy themselves that no crime has been committed. That's the kind of thing that goes on in fascist and communist and other despotic countries where the brutality against minorities of one sort or another is not only tolerated by the government but encouraged. I'm sure if the perps had been Catholic, the Protestants in NI would have been up in arms pointing out what horrible people they are. I wasn't born yesterday and I resent being treated as though I was naive. This is the same mentality as you see during what is laughably referred to as "the marching season" where protestants taunt and bait catholics. I'm under no illusions about what kind of people live there, I've lived in Europe myself and seen it first hand. There's no hiding behind a veil from me.

Marcus, your comments are simply sectarian. You've made up your mind about Protestants without any personal knowledge of this country. If you were generalising about an ethnic group, we'd call you a racist.

What were the Roumanians doing in NI anyway? Why weren't they back in Bucharest where they belong? Then this wouldn't have happened. Same goes for the Hindus. Why don't they stay in Mumbai or Bombay or mumbo jumbo land or whatever they're calling it these days?

BTW, I'm 1/4 Roumanian myself. That includes the part with the fangs. You should see where I sleep most days.

First of all, Roumanian is the preferred spelling where I come from.



I don't know or care how they spell it where you come from. England may be where the Engish language started but American English will be the world language. Already in England, they are starting to convert to it. When was the last time you've heard them use words like loo, lift, petrol, thousand million?

Secondly, As an emperor of Rome, I do not want Roumanians to be confused with those from Rome. Romans, Romanians, Romaniacs, Rome is Rome, Roumania is Roumania. And never the twain shall meet.

As for lecturing NI on racism, it seems to me that until we sent Senator Mitchel to straighten out the civil war in NI you people absurdly refer to as "the troubles" it had been going on for 400 years without letup. BTW, would you like me to explain to you how America went from legal racial segregation to President Barack Obama in just a little over 50 years? But perhaps you're right. Maybe a lecture isn't strong enough. Maybe what NI needs is an Exorcism. Out out demon of racism. I'll have to study that blog entry and view the video again but frankly I don't have much hope. Even stronger measures may be necessary.

Marcus, the english spelling of Romania's name was "Rumania" until it was officially changed to Romania in 1966.
