The women, who finished third in last year's European Championships, are targeting a top-six finish but there will be pressure on the men, who won four years ago after suffering a heartbreaking defeat to the USA in the bronze play-off in Sydney in 2000.

Since Athens, the men have got a new coach in , who coached Australia to win silver in 2004 and whose no-nonsense attitude is making a real difference to the sport in the UK.

However, there is still the fear that if GB find themselves without their two main offensive threats Simon Munn and Jon Pollock, the team will struggle unless others step up to the mark.

, who will be playing in his fifth Paralympics, is consistently GB's top scorer with Pollock, who made his Paralympic debut in Sydney, another key figure thanks to his assists and points.

Coach Treseder believes that Canada, Australia and the USA are ahead of the rest of the field - but after that there are four or five teams - including GB - who are closely matched.

He is not mentioning medals but vows: "We'll be competitive".
