The tale of the cat and the wheelchair user

Post categories:

Should every wheelchair user be given a cat? Answer: no, probably not. Still, that doesn't stop the question occupying Crippled Monkey's mind after I read a story that's been appearing just about everywhere: . Yep, a man from Kansas City fell out of his wheelchair, couldn't get himself back into the chair or reach his emergency cord - so that's when Tommy the cat stepped in and called (or pawed?) the paramedics on the phone. Presumably he didn't miaow to them, since not many people speak fluent Cat, but let his owner do the talking.

Honestly, you couldn't make this stuff up . . .

The way I read it? The cat was playing with the phone and stepped on the 911 speed dial button. I wonder if I could train my cat to phone for pizza when I'm feeling lazy and hungry?

I am sorry but this sounds like another piece of American claptrap to me.We have two cats and a dog but if i fell over they would just sit there until someone comes in to pick me up. They might just lay down with me but tell them to phone someone they just look at you like you talk a different language Why? I only speak english to them and they understand it when i say "FOOD"? If i put their food on top of the phone do you think they will phone? or should i just make sure the phone is near me?
