Some time ago over a curry

Eddie Mair | 15:19 UK time, Wednesday, 25 April 2007

with our Tokyo correspondent Chris Hogg (sadly the curry was in London, not Tokyo), I mentioned that we'd love to have something from him on the Blog. He's just sent this:

"..it was posted on the front of a pottery shop in the street next to where I live this afternoon..."

Perhaps the Japanese lettering is as non-sensical as the English wording?

To be fair though, everything is spelt beautifully, which is more than I can do.

It lost something in the translation. In Japanese it's sheer poetry.

If it's just me, it could be the gin.

So Shakespeare walks into a tavern. Bar wench looks up, sees him, frowns and says: "You're bard!"

Ed I, I think you're just showing off with your comment at 10!

If we're doing Shakespeare jokes, today's Private Eye has a great cartoon. A woman (wench?) is propping up an obviously drunk Shakespeare. She is glaring at another wench who is staring at them both.
1st Woman: "Oi - you lookin' at my Bard?"

I suspect a comment which I posted yesterday has been sent to the Junk box again.

I suggested that the word at the top of the poster was ''BOST''. I see my attemts to dumb-down the Blog last week have failed, and I need to remind the system that 'bost' is a Black Country dialect word....oh, here we go again....;o)

    Hello all you lovely froggers.

Aperitif (14) - Hi there! Yes, my contributions have been few and far between. Time pressures due to blah-blah-blah-yardy-yah-yah have meant that I can only dip a toe in here and there, mostly only to read. Anyhoo, waiting for the weather to change and all that.

    Ed (16) - You're a eco-god!

    Belinda (23),

Did you know that if you click any of the pictures, it'll tell you the camera and exposure data?

It's a Konica Minolta Dimage with 4M Pixels and 10x optical zoom with a further digital zoom for total 40x telephoto capacity. Less than 拢300 three years ago, and you can get better cheaper now of course from the same make. It's a good'un and does everything, but it ain't a pocket camera. Mich lighter than my old Nikkomat and half the size.

It works beautifully on 'Auto', but can be controlled as much as you like on manual.

More pics coming soon. The pheasant hen is doing fine, and gets meals delivered, so the eggs'll be well incubated.
