Morning Eddie, Morning All....
Here's a tray of tes, coffees, & nibbles for all to share and enjoy. I'm sloping off to one of the sunloungers. I hope there's some good sunshine on the beach today. I could do with some :-/
Thanks Ffred...lovely. Mind if I sit beside you? I want to escape April 1st. I'm so gullible, I'll believe anything you want to tell me today. So here I am, a sitting duck, an easy target.......I'll rise above it all.
Morning all - lovely new beach. Hi Gillian and Fred. And Fred - if you find yourself suddenly back in April there's wonderful sunshine here in Shropshire, too!
Anyone for a champagne breakfast? Here's some chilled bubbly, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. I know it's April 1 because I haven't got any such luxury back at home - it's laundry day for me as we were out all yesterday at SO's old school in Lancashire.
Gillian - you're on a beach, yet you're worried you'll believe anything..?
:卢)
Actually, a friend of mine once told his wife about wild cows (ie cows out in the wild, not the docile ones on dairy farms).
He said that they hunted in packs. They'd follow and surround their prey and then leap on them tearing them to shreds. Really nasty animals...
She never looked at cows in the field the same way for months.
Actually, once, about 10 years ago, I got fed up with TV shows and media in genereal constantly going on about nostaligic sweets and their favourite children's programmes, using catchphrases and getting lazy laughs with mentions of "hartley hare" etc etc. One night too many i was round a friend's house at a party and everyone was banging on about kid's programmes and "Do you remember..?" began each sentence.
I cracked.
Off the top of my head I went into a eulogy for that wonderful long lost show "Celery Tops" with the policeman who was sticks of celery in a wellington boot and the other one, y'know, the doll thing, and and ...
This went on for about 15mins. Some people half remembered this show. Somehow. Tricky as I was making it up as I went along, but anyway. I got all that nostalgia nonsense out of my system.
A few months later i bumped into one of the people at the party. We chatted and he then said to me with a smile:
"hey, do you remember that show 'Celery Tops'?"
I'd completely forgotten what i'd said at the party, but somehow these words lit a small memory that I couldn't quite make out...
"Yeah, erm, that rings a bell... was that a show when we were kids..?"
He looked at me quizzically and said "No, you remember, that show.... the party...?"
(my mind's going through all the shows i could remember: Fingerbobs, Chorlton and the Wheelies, Jamie and his magic torch...)
"God, maybe, I think I saw it once, but..."
"The show you made up".
I felt a prat.
It all came back to me.
Oh that show.
hoist by my own petard...
:卢)
Whisht (4) Lol...that's brilliant!
That reminds me of the Shoe People - I loved that one, more than my kids did probably, but I insisted we had to make sure we didn't miss it every week. Perhaps it's just a woman thing :o)
Beaut April sunshine in E Lothian, Mr Val P has a to-do list as long as your arm, and I've already been out to buy some moss-killer (for the grass, not for .... oh, you know what I mean).
Just time for a sit-down and a natter before I tackle my own list. I wonder how Fifi's getting on with her MotorBike Mercy Trip?
Si's got an !
;-)
ed
And, following an observation by Aperitif, .
;-)
ed
Moning all!
Well, Ed, at least it doesn't look like a face any more!
Whisht - chortle!
Ed, -- that's the bit of German in me you found -- I didn't quite know how to explain it to Appy earlier !
Re:- Whisht - That was very funny - I can imagine your face flushing. Arggggh!
Celery Tops -- hahaha, well it sounded convincing enough :-)
Bet he still can't lick his elbows!
I wonder if Si drives a little 'smart' car or a BMW X5
I gather that the size of car one drives can reveal a lot about a person.
Jonnie (10),
Good thing it's only a quarter; you wouldn't want to go off half-cocked!
;-)
Ed I, I'm ROFL-ing! There's tears rolling down my face. I don't know whether to say ''poor'' or ''lucky'' Simon!
I need a lie down and a pint of chardonnay, please. I've just sent Jonnie my bit for the Froggers' Song, and need to retreat from the jeers of my teenagers! What a palaver!
Ed I (7 & 8) - Hahahahaha
I think Si will be happier with (7)
What a lovely beachy afternoon. I can't stay long as I'm packing for a week down in Surrey - house and school hunting. I have bought half a dozen bottles of Chablis though, which I've put in the fridge behind the bar.
Now, I'm not naive enough to think that this will last until I return, so don't worry about saving it - get a BBQ lit later on and enjoy.
I'm sure there will be lots to catch up on when I get back - and hopefully a re-mix of the Froggers' Song to listen to!
Perkyx
Jonnie (12),
I reckon it must be an inverse relationship. My last car was a 2CV.
;-)
ed
Well I was always told it was an inverse realtionship Ed ! The Rangerover, is now on the market for both ecological and 'personal' reasons.
Re; Annasee and Gillian, just had a listen to your contributions and they sound marvellous.
Gillian - did you mean, however, to have echo on the bit where you say "That's Fifi's bit again" ? or shall we just use the percussion and the "PM -PM PM PM. bits?
Ed - hilarious!
RJD (11)
off we go-
te he he he heeeee!!;-)
I've been much more sensible recently, what with learning smiley- winkcies etc.
Think I'll just peep at Ed' 7s 7 and 8. Gillian seemed to enjoy them......
Mollyxx
Ed (7);
That's not an upgrade, that's wishful thinking!
Appy;
Shame on you. Not nice.
RJD;
No. But I can lick my (CENSORED), thanks to Ed!
Jonnie;
Whatever's cheap and available when the previous one expired. Currently a Volvo S80 (early model). Previously Peugeot 406 diesel, Escort diesel, Cavalier diesel, Mondeo V6 and so on.
I thought it was the size of a chap's nose, or feet, that revealed everything?
RJD;
(7) please!
ED;
Ah the good old 2CV, choice of green, eco-friends all over the place. Until Pug dropped the model because it couldn't meet emission targets. Whoops.
Molly;
Don't believe anything you read or see.
Si.
Ed (7 & 8)
You'll be popular..........!
Mollyxx
Jonnie (17) I'm mortified that you gave me the same praise as Annasee....Anna, I bow to your musicianship!
As for the echo, I have no idea how it got there, so by all means scrub that bit out. And for the benefit of clarification, I said ''strapline'' not ''bit''! I don't think Fifi would thank either of use for exposing her bits! ;o)
Molly (19) - Sorry, I'm already in the naughty corner on two other threads!
RJD: as half-man, half-dog, presumably you can lick there, too... well, half the time.
Move over in the corner, there.
Si (20), I think it's feet. Must be something about proportions. Not sure it's fail-safe, though.
RJD (23)
Poor you!
i'm sure you'll be moving up to make space for y-k-who (7 & 8) 'ere long....
Not a good idea, perhaps, on reflection etc....
(mustan't make mischeif- sorry!)
Mollyxx
On the refuge site I've posted four pictures for Fifi of 'Blackie' at Fifi's request.
I'll have a play with the song during the week.
I'll also tidy up the refuge site and start publishing some hopefully useful links. Starting off with the Flickr members. I think I know most of them but we can add to them as we go along.
And finally for the likes of Gillian and Humph, ... the photo's of my trip to Sri lanka in January:-
listen I'm really sorry about this. It's regarding the sony nomination.Obviously you are peerless nationally in involving listeners but it has come to my attention that Pete Price.huge in my home area,is a fellow nominee. You see the dilemma.
Jonnie great photos!
Well I don't know, I miss most of one weekend and there is all sorts of naughtiness going on!
Personally, I always thought it was big hands which signified, well, erm, ahem, big gloves.
A funny thing happened at work on friday (anyone of a sensitive disposition look away now). My colleague was walking around carrying a little dog, looking for a nurse to help, when the dog pood in her pocket!
Rather pleasingly, it landed inside her pocket but was made of such a malleable texture that it flopped over the outside of the pocket in a particularly poetic manner.
And guess what type of dog is was?
A Shitzu. (True!).
Re GM :-) Hahahahaha -- That's the funniest thing I've heard in weeks. The visual image - hahaha!!!
Reminds me of the Fawlty Towers episode with the 'dead dog' in the dining room and Polly -- Bangers ala bang - That was a Shitzu!
Re: b carbery (28), I can appreciate the dichotomy you are faced with, however, after having a quick 'gOOgle,
His favourite song is reported to be 'Club Tropicana' by Wham.
His website forum is managed by a Welsh wrestler called Dafydd.
All I can say is may the best man win - but my odds are on Eddie!

It's still running but I thought once I get the Flickr links up we could all vote on the best Froggers pic and then Eddie may post it. Perhaps a quarterly thing?
Has anyone seen Gossipmistresses Hog in Italy?
Oh dear -- my 9 doesn't make much sense now -- Ed's 8 wasn't there when I posted it, so my refernece the willy "not looking like a face anymore" was to the upgrade at 7. Clearly, it does look quite like a face at 8, because it's where a face should be! :-)
Si (20) What's not nice? That I said on an earlier thread that the willy looked like a face due to the way it was lit? I think many worse things have been said here! Why are you casting shame on me? You're not allowed to pick on me on the beach you know? I know we regularly diasgree politically but I'm a bit puzzled about that one, and even a little upset. Explain?
Jonnie (27) Great photos. Thanks for letting us see them ;o)
Appy;
My nose isn't that long!
And my cheeks aren't quite so .... bulbous.
Doesn't look like me at all.
Si. ;-)
I thought froggers might like the share the BREAKING NEWS that Kate O'Mara is hitting the the headlines in Wothing later this month, so regular froggers should get their bookings in fast.
Morning all,
Beverages and croissants on the bar.
I've mailed my contribution to the froggers chorus to Jonnie, augmented by a guitar track from youngest son who did the recording for me - thinks we're all mad but likes the idea of a virtual collaborative effort.
Sorry. an earlier link to Sultry Kate didn't make it through. It would appear, she's going round the country so I'll link to The Stage instead.
www.thestage.co.uk/listings/production.php/22210/september-tide
Or this one for Kate :-
They don't like my links, do they Jonnie?
Thanks. You're a pal.
Ooh, who bought the danish pastries this morning? Thanks, whoever it was :-) I'll just grab one quickly before being dragged back to April to talk to some french people....
Sis,
Seemingly, you've gotta use the full prefix.
xx
ed
Ed: Do you mean the 'http' bit?
Oh dear, defeated by the technology - seems the files I sent Jonnie are in the wrong format - back to youngest son for a retry and lots of apologies to Jonnie for wasting his time.
Synchronicity strikes - the Link above showed one to Curtis Stigers who I enjoyed on Loose Ends on Saturday - small world on this here Beach.
Big Sister (35) - Jonnie (38)
Thank you very much for the plug. Tickets are from 拢12.50. Concessions 拢1 off box office seats. Bookings are being taken now. The play (September Tide) stars the wonderful David Griffin. It's a lovely production. Ends April 21st.
Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!
jonnie-
Super photos! The man in the tree looked a bit scarey (or scared !) though....
Mollyxx
Fancy a swim?
Try asking Google Maps to plot directions between New York, New York and London, England - then look at step 23...
Jonnie (31) what about my italian hog?!
Well Kate (47), break a leg!
Hello all -
Fresh soda bread on the bar with some lovely cheese, olives and salad. Hows April treating everyone so far? Anyone been Septembered yet?! :)
AnnaR - another concert? get you! :) Thanks for the ballistics! x
mittfh (48) I nearly choked I laughed so much!
Who writes these programs?
Extreme form of CO2 saving perhaps.
mittfh (48) - am more concerned about the french leg of the trip!!
And I've just noticed they send you via France!
Interestingly, you can plan a route from Anchorage, Alaska to Moscow - again, with a swim across the pond en-route. Google has an "Add Directions" feature which allows up to 3 via destinations to be added, so it's fairly easy to plan a 14,000 mile roadtrip (albeit with a month's swim in the middle!).
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to like planning routes to the West Pacific coast - I was hoping it would either send me scurrying across most of Eurasia, or swimming across the Pacific.
It does remind me of the RAC blunder a year or so ago, whereby Nottingham to Bideford avoiding motorways took you via Dublin and Calais...
Would that be a frog's leg, Witchi?
PUSH!
Well, we all know how much the US loves France, so any opportunity to go there on the way to anywhere, of course!
Well, it seems that my reply to Si @ 35 has disappeared into the ether, so I am going to post it again:
Si (35), Oh, I see. But if you go back to the last beach you will see that I said it looked like "a face" not your face! Don't get paranoid! I know I want to slap you sometimes but I've never said you weren't a handsome chap! ;-)
Frances O -
don't you just love accidental puns!!
Oooh, Appy. You've made me blush!
Off for a dip to cool down....
Si.
And when you come out, Si, just ponder thi: I tried to meld you onto one J. Bond. Just couldn't get the angle right, so I gave up.
But I thought you'd like to know all the same.
Submariners do it deeper.
Big Sis (63) Really! I don't know who should be the more offended, Si or Jennie Bond.
RJD: I was referring to the HSBC Chair, of course.
Really, who could mistake Ms Bond for Mr Worrall? I ask you.

ug.
hello.
what a day.
couldn't begin to explain, and anyway it bores me so goodness knows how you'd feel.
Pass me a drink, would you. Pref a large one...
Hey, witchiwoman, lovely to hear from you, glad you liked the ballistics. Here's an Amandopondo bubble bar for you - my current fave. I don't give those out lightly!
All: I'm open for gratuitous love, compliments & general positive affirmation. The receiving thereof. Would be nice.

xx
ps otherwise it's just gonna have to be Perky's chablis. I have scary capacity for chablis....
Anna Rex ((( ))) many hugs.
Val P
Thank you :-)
Might just slip into a zzzzzz now
Anna Rex (67), hugs.
RJD (64), hahahaha.
Big Sis (63), Oh go on, try a little harder!
Oh look everyone, there's Daniel Craig recreating his "coming out of the sea" Bond moment. Yum! Or, actually, is that Mr Craig? Not quite sure... Who else was out there swimming just now? I can't quite make it out...
Up periscope!
Big Sis, (and anyone else interested)
I've tried three times (so far) to post a wee tutorial on links and things. If it doesn't appear after the fourth posting, I'll reformat it for the refuge.
Grrrr!
xx
ed
Re:- gossipmistress and the hog!
It's wonderful! It was however, as I now see, -- a stuffed wild boar.
Oh well . for those of you who haven't yet glimpsed:-
RJD (71), Was that a reference to the idea that I might have been better to use the expression "emerging from" in my post at 70? Or am I making them up for you now?
"Come, sweet slumber"......
Nope.
I'm back :-)
This is why I refuse to have webcam. Let's just say I went to bed 2 hours ago, have tossed & turned (RJD, don't....), and finally given in. 成人论坛 R4 on the bedroom radio, laptop on the pillow next to me, and nowt but the bedclothes to preserve modesty. Overwhelming temptation to grab a(nother) glass of Perky's chablis, but isn't drinking in bed a step too far down the slippery slope? Mind you, where codeine (prescribed, before anyone shops me) and temazepam (ditto) have singularly failed, alcohol seems a pretty benign 3rd attempt. Told you it'd been a bad day.
Anyone fancy toasting some bread with me on those embers? I promise to pull on a long-enough t-shirt!
!!!!
xx
ed
Insomnia = chance to catch up on the whole day at the beach. Silver lining :-)
Fifi -
Heart warming to see Blackie 'in the flesh'. Looks in fine fettle, Fifi - you're obviouly a great cat-nurse. So pleased about the happy outcome. Can you sort out my ageing mog, per chance? General decrepitude I think. Or is that me??
Ap (74) - I've been wanting to use that phrase for a couple of days, You just gave me the opportunity. You make them up for me and I'll make them up for you. You'll probably win in the end!
well, i hope the first person out of their hammock in the morning sees my footprints and follows them... you'll find fresh bread ready for toasting, and a cafetiere of coffee, just for you.
oh, and a cocoa mug that needs washing up. Leave it, I'll do it later.
Ooooooooo give that strapline-selector thingy a Mars Bar (other sweet chewy confectionery is available) for serendipitous aptness!
Mind, I thought my 拢100 ran out aaaaaaaages ago . . .
xx
LadyPen
PS RJD I may not be talking much, but I'm watching you :-)
RJD (64);
Ah, Jennie Bond. Notorious for having broadcast a piece about the Queen Mum whilst *sans culottes*. What a woman. Jennie Bond, that is.
Submariners do indeed do it deeper. If only I could figure out what *IT* is....
James Bond. Who's he? I taught him everything he knows. But I didn't tell him everything I know!
I'm now waiting for the lines from RJD about 'tube-dwellers', 'sludge-mariners' and 'long, black and full of thick seamen'. (For the un-initiated, that's an Irish submarine).
Hmm, whose footprints are these? They're heading in the direction of the breakfast tables. And a bewitching smell of fresh bread and strong coffee.
Mmmm-Mmmm. Thanks Anna Rex. There's a few crumbs around, not sure if they're yours, or if someone else has been around already.
Si.
A bit of a LadyPenCam, then?
Si (82) - I thought you would also have reminded us of the Irish soccer manager who flooded the pitch at half time because he wanted to bring on his subs.
LadyPen (80) - They have made me sit in the naughty corner so much that I have become institutionalised. I think we need your steadying influence back here to restore us all to good order.
RJD;
It's the word association thing I like about that joke. Reading it destroys the gag. But if you heard it for the first time I wonder what the image in your mind would be?
I'm also a fan of;
What's pink and always hard first thing in the morning?
Why, the Financial Times Crossword, of course!
Si.
AnnaR - Hope you're still snoozing when I post this. Don't worry about the cocoa mug, I'll sort that out; least I could do after the Amandopondo! And the bread! And the coffee! Hope you have a much better day.
Si and RJD - its way too early for that kind of malarkey!
Witchi;
I'm sure I don't know what you mean!
I'm surprised at you, getting on with the dishes etc. immediately. Obviously not a Cornish native?
Cornishmen do it dreckly!
I do love the foolishness one can get into from mis-reading or poor punctuation. Such as the definition of Rugby as 'a game for men with odd-shaped balls'. Or, inevitably, cricket as 'a game for men with red leather balls'.
Lynne Truss probably had a field day with these.
Si.
witchiwoman (85) - Malarkey is bounded by neither time nor space. It is constant and ephemeral. It is life-enhancing, priceless and yet free. Malarkey is good for the soul - at any time.
Urgph
Glad the toast went down well, actually some of the crumbs were mine... finally got to sleep some time after 5:35 (what gives??), and up at 8 to w***.
So, let's play "Hands up every one who feels like a zombie today.....". I'm going to do a half day, then retreat, via the bar in case any kind soul has fixed lunch, and crawl into a hammock. Please could someone ask the camels to keep the noise down to a muffled grunt. Thanks.
Si -
CornishMEN do it dreckly, cornish women want it now!
RJD -
Ah yes, life enhancing it truly is, but a little hard on the brain when on is feeling a little blunt on the witty side.
AnnaR - big hugs and heres some match sticks x
(ah, malicious comment warning - as if!! Has anyone ever been malicious on here??)
and up at 8 to w***.
pardon?
Belinda
if only I had the energy.....
Thanks WW - and what did they try to do you for on the malicious front? Shurely shome mishtake?
I'm sloping off to a purveyor of large lattes & gratuitous cake, much like an animal about to hibernate. I'll bring back a bag of muffins.
Anna x
AnnaR - are you feeling fortified now??
RJD (78), You hang about waiting to be filthy, eh? I think that that warrants arrest, you know.
Anna Rex (89), I'm with Belinda (92) Excuse me? -- and, to be honest, if you're that tired I would've thought the extra sleep would've been preferable :-) As for "So, let's play "Hands up every one who feels like a zombie today....."." I'm not putting my hand up anyone, be they zombiefied or otherwise -- I've already done Basil Brush, on another thread, and I found I didn't like the sensation!
is it me? Last night there was a load of glasses and stuff...
... has someone done all the washing up, (again) ?! You're a star!
Good ol' ma Larkey, she's a stall wart. Glad to hear she's still up and about, especially after all those sub mariners have been through...
heigh ho. Nearly Thursday...
decaf ground coffee & huge bag of muffins & carrot cake on the bar. Fraid it's not home made, but hey, it's keeping someone in a job.
sooooo tired.... might just snuggle up against the side of this warm recumbent camel....
ps fifi, how's blackie doing?
Honestly dear, I don't mind you using me as a bolster. And I can hum to drown the snoring, but now I've got a damp, bald patch, up with which I will not put. I'll just pop your head against the recumbent Macallen and leave you to dream. I'm off to order some fig leaves from Tommy.
:-))
You're all very naughty boys & girls. That's all I can say.
And, for the record, I didn't hear the zombie complaining.
ps was there a bit of a lag in the space-time continuum, or was it just me? Glad we're back on track again.
pps I found an old tv and video under the bar & I'm watching Saturday night's Dr Who, if anyone else feels like pulling up a recliner & joining me. Popcorn in the bucket. Let me know if the tide's due in, don't want to get leccy-cuted.
There is something very odd about the order that posts are appearing here today.
Well Anna R - I'm with Aperitif (95) and Belinda (92)! I read it and thought "you what!!!!" But as you say we are all a naughty lot indeed :)
Anyway hope you have suitably recovered and have a good night's sleep tonight to make up for last night.
Well I am starting to flag a bit - and I am feeling slightly peckish so have brought some nachos and salsa for dipping and a bottle of chilled Riesling (well it is nearly going home time now so I am allowed!)
The PM Blog. I'll wager that this is the only place in the world one can hear a camel talk about her damp patch.
Appy, I knew you'd know that joke!
Dear All - just found this interesting recipe on the good food site.....
"7. A home-made blueberry milkshake
As 80g of blueberries equals one portion, it should be easy to make a two-portion shake. The vegetables have to add up to 80g to count as a portion, so you'll need one large tomato and a generous helping of cucumber to make up the weight."
It's ok - I'll make the milkshakes for everyone but leave out the tomato and cucumber, unless anyone fancies a vegetable milkshake?!!
I've been out all day so I haven't seen the little chap today. But there are signs that Blackie has been out from his hidey-hole, drunk some milk, eaten soft cat food ... and is drooling less around the dishes.
Either that or the blackbird's scoffed the meat and the hedgehog and A.N.Other Cat has had the milk?
I'll know more when I see him properly though. Thanks again for asking, you guys!
Sorry to see some of you are having a really rotten time this week ... hopefully we'll all find the karmic balance redressed tomorrow if not sooner.
I've brought some cheese and biscuits, and a couple of bottles of Willy Willy. (That's an Australian shiraz, and very nice it is too.)
;o)
Do tuck in!
Fifi xx
RJD: indeed. I'm very confused.
Aperitif: where else??
Fiona: I'm disappointed in you ;-) but you're off the hook since you brought drinks & nibbles.
How could you all possibly think I meant I was going for a WALK? It was obvious I meant WORK, but convention dictates we'll (usually) have none of that talk on the beach.
At least the camel understands. Mind you, now she's a bit damp she's getting a tad smelly.
At present, we're up to about 103 on the beach, so who knows where this'll turn up?!
Appe - you'll turn the PM website blue, single handedly!
Izzy - go on then, a blueberry shake sounds great - I'll pass on the tomato and cucumber, thanks! Who writes these?!?
RJD - Malarkey Maralkey, lets call the whole thing off...
Wasn't it Bluebottle who always used to speak stage directions ?
*turns to face audience*
i guess you all can see I am hanging upside down by my knees from the back of this - I thought i'd watch the sun go down from here, but it's going up into the sea...
oooh if none of this makes any sense, I've probably dropped off!
xx
u-u
Anna Rex (106) - Please! Show some respect.
Cammelia, Lady Dromedary may occasionally be fragrant but she would NEVER be smelly.
Anna Rex, and there was I thinking that you were up at "8 to whan" in the afternoon but did not want us to think that you spoke with a posh accent. Honestly, I am too innocent for this place!
H.
I'm in the corner, on the naughty step - just drinking tonic - I've run out of gin :-(
Ed I has sent some interesting stuff though to this beach - but it didn't make it.
It's all on the Froggers Refuge site.
I'll copy and paste it here but the links that he has created will not work.
Sis (& any others interested), I've sent this five times to the blog beach, but it's gone into the ether, so here it is for the refuge:. Essence: Link Structure (for the blog): can be seen below Quotation marks are important, as are > I have set up several function keys to do most of the work automatically and avoid typos. I did it with Autohotkey which is free and easy to learn. You can see the file I've set up so that when the computer is turned on it sets up the various keys. It should be fairly self-explanatory, and you are free to copy it and modify it to your own purposes. It is here.
Cocoa just been made. Help yourselves. Please add your favorite tipple.
Nikki Noodle, I apologise -- you are quite right. I have been getting quite ridiculously smutty these last few days. I blame RJD and Valery of course -- they started miffing each other about the Balearics and I found myself transfixed. I'm off for a cold shower. Sex is a bit like oxygen, you know?
Ooh thanks Stew M - cocoa and brandy's just what I need. What a beautiful night here on the Beach, and it looks like I've missed quite a bit of loose talk here and on the rest of the Frog today. Perhaps just as well......
Was not paying much attention but Paddy O'connells just been on "never mind the full stops" on 成人论坛 4.
He seemed to keep a straight face so eddie must not have been about!
Hey guys, look up in the sky. The little flying machine is writing: "Eddie Mair is here. Relax"
Could it be a sign?
APPE !!! ITS BLUE !!
What have you done !! Turn the shower off and get out here and fix the blue...!!!!
As for RJD and Val P, you are three of a kind, what with RJD putting (putt-ting?) about with his niblock, and Val P using one for her round.
...how is sex like oxygen?! Gassy? Goes up with a bang? Is better in airships?! You'll get me started now!
n-n
(giggle!)
Ooo errr... have we had a tsunami? The beach is all blue again....or is it just me? I'm sure I haven't drunk that much....
Fifi - hope Blackie turns up tomorrow
Jonnie - thanks for the advice about the recording!
Now I'm going to slink off to that hammock and hope it's all normal when I open my eyes again....
Well I don't know who did it nikki noodle (107), but my whole PM site HAS turned blue again so I am reverting to Firefox where everything is thankfully normal.
OK, I know I'm posting in insomniac's hour, but it's all too quiet in frogland at the moment.
Is everyone away on Easter hols?
Just nipped back from the naughty corner to say "Sorry! I didn't think it would really happen! I will pipe down, honest!"
N-N (117), Only important when one isn't getting any.
That's the last! Honest!
Perhaps it was the unusual blueberry milkshakes that turned it blue - sorry!
Anna Rex,I'm surprised a woman of your sophistication cannot tell Camel No.5 from Eau de Cammelia. Or perhaps you feel we camels should make do with a dab of pondwater behind the ear.
Walks off, hump a quiver with outrage.
In fact I think it may have been Eddie's skywriting that did it. But all's well again.
Appy! Your strapline's just appeared!
Cammelia, Darling, it wasn't you, I realied, it was the left-overs on the bar I could smell. How could I POSSIBLY have thought anything other than fragrant aroma was wafting from your statuesque frame? And by statuesque I mean... oh, please don't take the quivering hump.
Here, let me be your humble servant for the afternoon. What can I get for you?
Aperitif - LOL - just caught up with the night's activities and read your joke - thank you!
Well, I got rather more sleep last night, thanks for keeping the noise down.
WW, are you around? Fancy a walk & talk? I was wondering how you're getting on, post therapist & all. Hope you're OK. xx
Afternoon all, whose is this bottle of perfume? Can I have a try?... Goodness! That's... pungent.
eek! it's the 26th September on the blog and Eddie is asking for postcards. Is there a little kiosk somewhere on the beach where one can buy them?
First its blue and now I'm in September...really don't need the blog to fall apart on me today!
I was getting all excited about joining in with postcards, then realised the flux capaciter must have kicked in....ho hum.
Hey witchiwoman, come join me & several others in the "Confused Corner" :-)
I'm sticking doggedly to my belief that it's April and white, and no amount of evidence to the contrary will persuade me. It's not me that's mad, it's everybody else.
How goes it?
Appy;
that's not perfume.
Lady C. was on her way to the vet's with a sample in a bottle. She must have left it behind.
Si.
Is it me or is it hot?
I'm going to whizz up some cold, refreshing smoothies (definitely NO cucumber or tomato). Help yourselves.
But having watched Dr Who last night, I'm not providing straws. Way too scary.
Yours, still hiding behind the sofa
Anna xx
AnnaR - hello; my brain is beyond frazzled and mush doesn't come close. I'm just going to lie here until I feel normal again (which is a relative term!) Care to join me?
witchiwoman, it'd be my pleasure, thank you.
Oooh, that's better. If we're staying here til we feel normal, perhaps we'd better send out for dinner? ;-))
Great strapline Appe! come on out of the corner...
Glad you slept well AnnaR - does the weather make a difference? Have you noticed?
Will pop back later on to see what's cooking, I've put a rack of corn on the cob in the bar - they will grill up nicely - especially with some barbaqued fish, or some kettle chips, and then afters could be rounded off with tiramasu...
...bother, now I'm hungry already!
nik
Oh Nikki, that sounds nice; bit of fish would be lovely with some salad and a glass of chilled white....so much for sending out AnnaR, no need to go any further! Ah, the joys :)
I'll see if I can catch some fish for you nikki, not had much practice though, perhaps someone had better have a backup plan.
AnnaR - literally just checked back thru messages...am ok post therapist. Nearly been a week and there have been a few times where I've had to remind myself that won't be going this week....living and learning I guess! Thanks for asking; its a shame we don't always co-incide on our visits! big hugs :) xx
Please stop talking about barbequed fish and corn on the cob.....I am starving!! Oh go on then I'll have some, hang on while I just pull up a chair and get myself a drink.
Great strapline Aperitif!
Mighty quick visit today - been lurking though, did post earlier somewhere else and it vanished (boo!)
Well must dash (said it was quick). love and kisses to you al, l m'wah, m'mah
Goodness me, what IS that smell? Like a cross between wet spaniel and school gymn changing room?
I have spent all afternoon trying to draw a house using a proprietary CAD programme... the result of hours of measuring, swearing, erasing and trying again is something a child could knock out in Etch-A-Sketch in 10 minutes.
Other toys that draw badly are ... actually, no they're not.
Anyone got any Liffey water to share? I am having a break from Willy Willy, and fancy something a bit blacker and chewier.
Appy, RJD and Val ... naughty step NOW!!!
Fifi ;o)
Now about that song?
I've done a very rough mix which should start playing when you click on the refuge beach - give it up to a minute or so to start though
so far I've got Anne P, Perky, Gillian, Annasee, Ed I mixed in.
As I've said it does need a lot of tinkering but feel free to give some feedback. I have also asked Fifi to send me a better quality copy of the original song, as it was quite a compressed MP3 file.
Fifi (141) - Let me work this one out.
YOU say Willy Willy etc. I say nothing. I get sent to the naughty step. Not going!
RJD Fifi obviously wants you all together on the naughty step so you can all be naughty together! It sounds like a call to arms to me!
Thank you all for a very interesting day - I have spent very little time doing what I was supposed to be doing (studying). I have enjoyed my time reading and commenting with the rest of you. I think this is adictive and I could get drawn in very easily!
Enjoy your evening on the beach - I'm off to do something properly constructive so that I don't have to admit to a whole day of doing nothing when the SO arrives home.
See you soon.
Izzy xx
Just before I go - Jonnie et al ...... you're fab! What a great song! If Chairman Mayo doesn't have it on the show there'll be questions asked.
. . . channelling Silver-fox and Roberto - great tambourine! And (it's me, now) I speshly like how it goes off-beat every so often.
The pee-em pee-em pee-empee-empee ems are LOVELY (Gillian? Was that you?)!
Am now imagining Fifi up front, Annasee elegantly to one side with her harp, Gillian and Perky swaying gently (in glitterfrocks and big hair like The Supremes on early b-&-w Top of the Popses) behind and EdIgle sitting in the top of a tree resembling the QuangleWangle in his hat . . .
(The QuangleWangle, as eny fule no, had a beard JUST like EdIgle's.)
When do we get to hear the reggae version? And the one with steel drums? Get the tambourinist to organise the rest of the rhythm section, I say . . . :-)
Dark-chocolate KitKats on the NCMB.
Good lord. Is that the time?
xx
LadyPen
Jonnie (142) You are a star! What a laugh I've just had, listening to the song....it's so bizarre, but in a very, very good way!
Please could we have some more musically-challenged contributions so Jonnie can hide mine behind them?
LadyPen (147) Okay....here are the maraccas, or as we don't have any woodwind yet, you could try the kazoo. And if you can do a posh and/or vibrato version of the pm-pm-pm bit, do feel free to over-dub ;o)
Trying to draw a house, Fifi (141) ?
I'm not boasting, but, I've just drawn a pair of curtains...
tee hee!
n-n
xx
Oh Gillian (149) - were you the tambourinist too? How lovely :-)
xx
LadyPen
Jonnie, that is absolutely fantabbydoozie. I simply can't inagine how all those separate bits we sent you got stuck together to make that song. What an absolutely bizarre but rather lovely thought - a group of people who have never met creating a song together. Truly heart-warming really. I trust it will be played at the Sony Awards WHEN (not "if") PM wins. You can't get more interactive than this, surely!
PS, inspired, whoever did the "PM, PM PM PM" chorus vocals. I trust Eddie has even now made it the ring tone for his mobile?
What - ho!
I'm back, and positively PARCHED
Pass the bottle. No, don't worry about a glass.
Also feeling dreadful that I might have missed the boat re the song - I really want to add my bit. Am I too late??
I've brought some hyacynths to try to mask the, erm, atmospheric aroma. Mind you, can't say the BBQ'd fish has helped.
Anyone got any healthy nibbles.....?
Erm - I must extend apologies to all for over-bawdiness. 'Tis fun though ;o)
Just tell me when I can come out of the Corner - I'll leave the Balearics behind, I promise (after all it was nearly 25 years ago).
Re: Anna Rex
There is bags of time - as I said earlier this is only a very rough mix with lots of hissing and clicks etc..
I've spoken with Fifi tonight who will have some suggestions. She mentioned to me that she'd like someone else to sing 'Its what we do' -- relating to the 成人论坛. Perhaps a line for Eddie?
I've also asked her to send me a CD of her original recording as that will be beneficial to the end result.
Well Fifi and I were amazed at the quality of all the contributions so far - I think a special toast is deserved for Fifi, The Lying Scotsman and Annasee who are all very gifted in their spheres, however it's all very much a Froggers joint effort. So we should compliment ourselves.
Hello! Thanks to all for the strapline compliments -- it's ages since I sent it in.
The song sounds great! I don't dare join in for fear of spoiling it... and, I confess, I've yet to make the time to learn how.
So, Fifi is sending Val, RJD and I off to the naughty corner just in case eh? Is Humph still there? Does anyone else wnat to come? It's becoming a bit of a party over there. I promise I'll wash off that "perfume" first!
RJD (143) Let me explain: "Innocent = Punnished!" Rule of the Frog. I have suffered from it ever since I arrived. :-(
H.
OK - To everybody involved in the PM song that I have just listened to on Jonnie's site can I offer my apologies and congratulations.
Apologies because I originally thought it was a naff idea and couldn't possibly work and congratulations because it evidently does work and sounds brilliant.
Whoever did the Pm Pm Pm bit - inspired!
Well, either we have a blockage, or everyone's out havin fun, or nobody's talkin to me
In any case, I'm givin up & goin to hammock.
Nt nt
:-(
I'm off to hammock myself now, nite all xx
the song sounds fantastic!
(pm pm pm!)
I rooted around for an internal microphone, but I don't seem to have one - there's something that looks like one though?! I shouted at it but nothing happened, not a sausage!
So, now I am contemplating obtaining an external mic and finding somewhere suitable to plug it!
Sigh! I am heading for the corner even as I type...
nikki
Humph (157), Admit it; you like a bit of punishment.
Morning all !
I am putting on the coffee as I whistle, (I'll just do some of these mugs and dishes...da di doo...tee dum tee dum tee dum) ... and whilst I'm here, I think I might help myself to a coisant couisont coissant (??)
(Oh yes feeling fine and dandy this bright morning, may well go for a dip...)
tra la la
iddle de do di day
pee em pee em pee em
Morning all - and specifically to bright eyed, bushy tailed n-n.
(I think you need an "r" in there somewhere, but I'm the last person on earth to give advice about spelling.)
I've brought some red berry smoothies (left the veg out, this time) and a platter of mixed fruit, please help yourselves.
What a lovely day on the beach, sunny with just a hint of nip in the wind which will probably be welcome as it gets warmer.
"hint of a nip"? oh dear - sorry!!
Jonnie, Fifi et al-
GREAT song!
MUST join in...but how?
Completely un-technical- can I send a disc?
Please help- I must contribute something jolly...
Maybee I'm too late, as usual?....
Mollyxxx
Apropos of nothing on this thread, I've just received this from Fifi re Blackie:
"No sign of him yesterday either ... and last night the food and milk I'd put out wasn't touched. I don't think the little guy will be back again now ... I think this is it.
I'll keep the food and liquids going for a day or two just in case someone else has taken him to a vet. But honestly, I don't really believe that."
She's not feeling up to frogging, but has asked something be posted.
Big Sis -
Thanks for that... let Fifi now we are thinking of her and hoping that the little fella surprises her; big big hugs x
Big hugs, Fifi.
Fifi-
Not one for false hope, but our cat has just returned after 8 days. She always disappears for days on end at this time of year. good for hunting.
Fingers crossed.....
Mollyxx
My thoughts are with Fifi. Pogo and Herbie (both black) wave a paw in support.
Oh, I do hope he's just gone hunting.
A toast to little kitties everywhere!
My cage seems to have taken something of a rattle.
Fifi: your message has reached me. Don't know how to reply to you directly. But yes I can.
You can contact me through my blog.
Big hugs from me too Fifi - really hope the little fella just gone off on some cat adventures (as they do), fingers crossed that he does return safe and sound x
Will listen to the song later at home (can't from here for some reason). Has anyone asked Eric to play it on air - it must make a feature surely! How many other blogs have led to a bunch of people who have never met all recording a song together. You should all be very proud. Wish I could join in but I wouldn't hold your breaths waiting for me.
Anyhoo, just want to wish you all very happy Easter. We are heading down to Longleat for a couple of days - taking the children to the safari park and staying in what is supposed to be (and hopefully will be) a nice child-friendly hotel.
Have hidden some easter eggs around the beach, off you go hunt for them now.....
Fiona x
Fiona - have a lovely time and thanks for the eggs and the hiding, always more fun that way!
I've just returned, refreshed and we're back in September again. There's definitely some froglins in the system somewhere. I think I'm going to go off for a hunt around the dunes.
It's all the fault of Green Day. Wake me up when September ends...
If I was back in September, I would be doing things a lot differently to how they turned out the first time around...
Hmm, that sentence made absolutely no sense. Help me froggers - I have rewritten it about 5 times and it is still gibberish (unlike my other sentences which are gibberish after one attempt).
Belinda - Try this:
"If I was back in September, I would make sure that things turned out a lot differently from the first around..."
But why? We all love you.
Lovely afternoon in the April garden - warm sun, the forsythia glowing gold, plum blossom bursting forth, a mist of pointiliste lime green leaves spreading over the trees, a tractor growling in the distance....and the pungent smell of slurry spreading drifting on the breeze.
Ah the joys of living in the country!
...and of malicious posting warnings.....
Hi all,
Just diving in & out
Fifi - love, hugs and everything crossed; hang in there
WW - how you doing? That egg you appear to be eating... any chance of a nibble? No time for dinner, you see. Much obliged :-)
Gotta dash, more music; back at the bar later.
Anna
xx
It must make some sense Belinda (178), because I'm fairly sure I know what you mean.
Hi everyone. Just popped in for a quick therapeutic paddle and collect all my lovely hugs and messages.
Daisy is waving a paw back to Herbie and Pogo ... I think she may have misunderstood the message. Easily distracted around tea-time!
No sign at all of Blackie since night before last. He's far too weak to hunt, I'm afraid. But I suppose someone else might have caught him and whisked him off to the quack... anyway, I'm not giving up but neither do I have much hope left for him.
Tomorrow I am having 2 feline visitors to stay, while their absentee owner has builders and a plumber in. Molly and Pushkin are old friends of mine and will be good company to distract me from absent chums.
Now, let's get serious. Who's for a socking great glass of something alcofrolic? I know I am!
Fifi
Belinda: How about "I would be doing things a lot differently so that they would turn out a lot differently to how they did the first time around..."?
The irony of not being able to get the sentence right isn't lost on me, you know.
Belinda - Here's the time that should have been the second last word in my sentence (179).
Me, trying to give English lessons? - tsk. tsk.
Quiet on the beach tonight - has everyone gone hunting for those Easter eggs or are we just bloggered?
Couple of nice bottles of NZ pinot noir on the bar. I'm off for a paddle first.
Am not malicious, onnist. But I suspect somebody else is . . .
LadyP
xx
Are the moderators asleep? Have complained about a comment & it's STILL THERE! Am getting cross now :-(
Tell me to calm down, somebody . . .
xx
LadyP
Fifi - re that socking great glass - you're on. In times of trial, where else to turn but the bar on the beach?
Oh, I have an iffy kidney at the mo. Nothing at all serious, so please save your sympathies for Fifi and Blackie - I'd honestly rather be in my shoes than Fifi's. But, do you think, if I lie on one side while drinking this lovely bottle of NZ shiraz I just found, all the booze will be channelled to the good kidney? I'll give it a try.
Schlurppp... I seem to be dribbling...
Calm down somebody
So have I, LadyPen. In fact there are two of them. I complained over an hour ago.
I say, any chance of a glass of that rather appealing Shiraz?
RJD, LadyPen, seems someone's asleep at the wheel: nothing's moving. Mind you, I can't spot the malice - hope it isn't me - eek. Not intended if it is!
Have a mini egg while you wait...
Anns xx
Oh Darcy, soooooooooo delicious to have - I mean, see - you here again
Let me get you something to wet your lips
(ooh, I'm quivering like an angry camel's hump)
RJD and LadyPen
Talk about paranoid!
Please tell me it's not me!
It can't be me can it?
Mollyxx
Was it not a troll? Or did they get swiped before I got here?
Funny old day at Val P Towers, but the weather has been fabulous in April, and for April come to that. Incredibly spirit uplifting ain't it?
I'll put a bottle of our latest delivery on the NC Bar, first come first served, it's the Full Fifteen and it's fabulous too!
Is there by any chance a large hammock free? I feel I need to relax suddenly.
No, it's nothing to do with any of the regulars and seems to be off-screen now. I think it is a bit of spaming that has somehow made it past the site/blog defences.
Sorry, I think I just outed Mr Darcy - as if you didn't know already!
Calm down - I nearly complained about one in November but I noticed RJD had made a mention as regards to the wet **** and the link that it led to.
I think Anne P made a good point as to the Peter comment on the current thread (We're aware by the way)
Now a quick cuppa or - perhaps a small port?
Just back from police station on yet another care-crime criminal (aged 11) to let you all know that I'm too tired to post anything. Nighty night.
Re; RJD (158)
Thanks for the support. Actually I wasn't sure at first, but I knew that Chris Jarvis would be able to plonk something out on the organ - but when I heard Fifi's bit! Wow - I was bowled over - and then all the Froggers who really surprised me with the quality of the contributions.
Fifi is going to send me her original bits in studio quality (not MP3) then I can spend more time to make it all sound brighter and tighter - for want of better words.
So now - just to remind you all - we need MORE contributions
Can Robbie bark ?
This was all due to a chance comment from nikki noodle, so it'd be really nice to get something from her ?
(ooh, I'm quivering like an angry camel's hump)
Thank you, those who complained about the post - I had to look twice (at the name - come on chaps!), I couldn't believe it!
Jonnie - "brighter and tighter". could be you have to join RJD et al on the naughty step?"?!
Have to reiterate, what a fab concept and execution the frog song is - well done all, esp those who took part.
Iz xx
P.S. thought we'd established that n-n was a chap, a couple of days ago? Am I making it up? Is the dreaded age related disease kicking in?
Darcy, is there room in that hammock for a little 'un?
(RJD, I should have known...)
Failing that, anyone care to join me for an insomniac ironing session?
By the way, is it still last night or is it officially tomorrow now? It's just that it has a bearing on what I can fix myself from the bar.
Just to repeat what I didn't quite make clear last night, the offfensive stuff was nothing to do with froggers.
I don't know how long it took, but both the offensive posts have now been removed from the November thread. As I write there is a post in the recent comments leading to an ad for Viagra in a January thread.
I suspect that it is some spaming mechanism.
RJD (199) I thought that the accent sounded abit strange for Derbyshire. Mind you, I think that the accent of natives of that county sounds abit strange too . . . Ow . . .Ouch . . . Hey, that hurt.
[runs away from the stoney part of the beach . . . and certain angry froggers]
H.
Anna Rex (205) - If I were you, I would give up on that Darcy. Take it from me he is fickle and not to be trusted. I last saw him sneaking off towards the high dunes at 3 in the morning with two bottles of "bubbly" from the bar under his arm. He winked at me and muttered "I may be some time!"
Today I am kitty-sitting Molly and Pushkin for my friend. So far big ginger tom Pushkin has settled on the table behind the laptop, facing the window and catching some sun. Molly the grey and white lass is still prowling the room, crying.
Orange cat hairs going everywhere!
The milk bowl in the lean-to is untouched again. Half the soft food on the patio has gone, and the other milk bowl licked clean ... both consistent with hedgehog activity.
[Froggers: what can one never do to a hedgehog....?]
Now. Who's for a quick paddle by the rock pools, while my twin charges are dozing? I'll bring a flask of Chinese green tea to freshen up those taste buds before we embark on another day's beach-debauchery!
Fifi
PS For those who felt miffed at being sent to the Naughty Step when they hadn't even had time to be naughty ... it was an invitation, silly! There's still the best part of a bottle of Willy Willy there; no better tipple for miscreants could there be.
*yawn* *stretch* Never did find Darcy last night.
You'll all find your laundry ironed & neatly folded on the bar. There's an odd sock, predictably.
Oh, and whose are the gorgeous frilly pink... oh, RJD, good morning!
It's taking a long time to post comments this morning. Last one was RJD at 09:27 .. and it's now 11:17!
Fifi
Oh, so many things are making me itch with curiousity today! What were these offensive postings about? Who managed to see them before they disappeared? What can't one do to a hedgehog? (C'mon Fifi, I need to know!)
hi peeps!
How do you make hot, cross bunnies?
(No, wait... I did that wrong!)
What makes an angry summer stew on Good Friday?
(No, wait... that's wrong - in so many ways!)
What do you get if you start to pour hot water over a rabbit's, no, er, down a rabbit hole?
(something like that?!)
phew!
n-n
xx
PS could someone please tell jonnie!
Ap (212) - Let's just say, "very rude words" and links to porn sites.
.
.
.
tsk - would you believe it? They let that stuff through last night and now I'm being malicious! Is it possible to swear without using a swear word? Where is that Fifi rhyming slang when you need it. Ok, we'll try again . . .
.
.
Nope. Let's try whistling again. . . o0oo0oo o0o0ooo0 ooo0ooo0o o0 o000 0oo0o0o0.

Still no good. Try a different tune . . o0Oo))oO oo00OOo0o0)oo(. 00OOoooO0 oooo000OO.
If - I - only - have - enough - energy - to - make - it - to - that - sun - longer - -
Phew, that's better. For anyone who's interested, last night's marathon awake session (RJD, steady...) lasted from approx 01:30 to 06:00
I've had a delightful morning making music & putting the real world to rights. Now I'm pooped.
Would be reeeally nice to have some easy-going company while I doze on the beach this afternoon. Oh, and perhaps some iced tea...? And a massage....? Then perhaps I could look after Molly & Pushkin while Fifi goes on one last search for Blackie.
Fifi - when you get back, please put us out of our "what can you never do to a hedgehog" misery, before someone starts posting creative responses ;-)
Really slow innit?
Anna Rex (215) Blogger it!
Mods seem to have taken Friday off....or perhaps there's just one lone soul on duty for all the blogs at the beeb.
Anna R. iced Darjeeling in the bar fridge for you.
Well it is a very quiet beach this afternoon. Sorry about the noise - was having a snoring contest with a couple of the camels. Maybe everyone else has found the warm spot today; this corner is distinctly chilly today, esp after the balmy heat of yesterday.
Maybe if I put these warm, buttered Hot Cross Buns on a plate and let spicy aroma waft about a bit, someone will come along and join me for afternoon tea....
Re: Izzy and (n-n)
When was established that Nikki had become a man ?
I've searched everywhere - trawled through hours of beaches - legs exhausted :-)
Anyway Soooooorey Nikki !
This was the original post that inspired the song from a Month or so ago :-)

At 10:09 PM on 11 Mar 2007, nikki noodle wrote:
I know I'm still new, but has anyone suggested meeting up to croon on the beach? it seems that many froggers could make a pleasant evening's harmony together.
I'm sure the fiddlers could accompany the vocals, and, what with the blog being the blog, noone is going to even notice if the lips are in or out of synch.
Fifi could even join in from north of the border, and give us the hedgehog song...
well, i guess the proof of the pud is in the setting forth with one foot: so here goes. if I start off, will you join in?
[Please do - I'll feel a right hedgehog warbbling on by my self!]
*clears throat*
Ugh, I got really wet. Was expecting a bit of a tidal wave - it'd been suspiciously quiet on the beach for hours. Big hug & hello to the poor lone beeb moderator then :-)
erm, couldn't we just ask Nikki what gender s/he is? Hate to be obvious...!
Anne P, thanx so much for the tea - so refreshing.
I think I've been set up on a blind date tomorrow evening. It'll be a first since SO did a Baldric. Any hints?? I thought of wearing this slightly floaty, understated but pretty number. Too much? Would appreciate some moral support... (and a slimline hip flask!)
Jonnie (220) - I'm pretty certain that it was established that n-n is of the hairy variety. Nikki Noodle - come out and tell the truth (again)!
Anna Rex (219) - Re the snoring contest with the camels - you won!
Anna Rex, just be yourself, wear what is comfortable and don't invest too much in it. Try to relax and enjoy whatever it turns out to be.
On my first erhem (what are they called now?) extra marital event I was accompanied by an incontinent dog who peed on the host's leg - fortunately it was thefalse one. Still makes me roar with laughter, and I can't remember the blokes name.
I wonder if the naughty stuff had anything to do with the Beeb's inclusions of the new buttons? (i.e. the bookmarks)
It does seem a bit of a coincidence, doesn't it?
RJD: ouch...
Ok, Ok, Ok. Here we go again. Why is it always me that has to ask the obvious question and then look stupid?
Anna Rex - "Did a Baldrick?" - Explanation please.
Anna Rex (221) Sounds perfect, especially if your weather has been as summery as ours lately.....but take a crocheted cardie with you just in case! Hope you enjoy yourself, whatever the outcome.
Nikki Noodle is most definitely a man. I had to start picturing him with a beard when he ''outed'' himself, though I think I remember him saying that he didn't have one.
Thanks for all the words of support. I really am not hoping for anything other than a nice evening. I'm way too unsuspecting - it took me yonks to start to suspect it was a set up. Hostess is a great cook, so it'll be a good night regardless.
Aunt D - LOL thanks - I'll probably leave my sick cat at home then!
RJD: Edmund asks Baldrick whether he has a first name. "Yes. It's S*d Off". Baldrick explains how he only learnt his full name when he introduced himself to the other kids:
"Hello. I'm Baldrick"
"We know. S*d Off Baldrick"
So when one's SO s*ds off, well, you get it.
Anna Rex - Thanks, I must have missed that episode. If the blind date has any sort of sense of humour or indeed just sense, he'll love you.
Anna - I hope you have a lovely time, the outfit sounds lovely.
A friend of mine (honest guv, it wasn't me!) gave a lift home to a bloke she knew after a drink which she hoped had been, or may lead to a date. As she pulled up outside his house, she went to give him a kiss. Unfortunately, at that moment he undid his seatbelt and got out of the car and she ended up snogging the car seat!!! :-)
Anna Rex - at time of posting you are probably off out the door, so suffice to say that our thoughts are with you. Btw, where's Fearless when you need him, he's the resident Frog Expert in such matters is he not??
Yup - I can testify that n-n is a man, as I seemed to be the only one who had thought so all along. There must have been some clue way back at the start of your postings n-n, unless I got Appy to lend me one of her knowholes ;-) You may never know!
Blackie: Sorry folks but it seems as if my lovely neighbour has had a visitor who offered to help out with the rat problem.
Didn't know what he was doing, left the bait in the open, dead rat lying around ... you can guess the rest. We have.
My S.O. is horribly upset that this could really be what happened to our little pal.
I'm boiling with rage! It's so easy (and FREE) to ring the council and get Ivor the pest control man in. But the coincidence is too much to ignore. It must be it.
Appy (and others mystefied by the hedgehog references) : visit the Froggers' Refuge, go to Fifi's Bits, and click on the Hedgehog Song. Be brave, it's not for the faint hearted....!
Fifi
jonnie (220) Check out the beach that started on 10th March - it claimed to be the biggest beach - but we all know different! ;-) Post 162 from n-n included these words:
And also, not to confuse anyone, 'nikki noodle' is a name written on the side of a pen bought for my birthday, a funny gag perhaps, but probably funnier if you can actually see that I am more bass than tenor, and a rather long way from alto... !]
A number of us, myself included, admitted surprise at this news. However, out of the mouths of bass singers etc . . .
H.
Evening all,
Aunt Dahlia (223), you are utterly barmy and I adore you!
Anna Rex, hope the date went well (I guees you won't be reading this until it's over).
Everyone, a very fine old port on the bar for those who are interested. I'll just settle down here and watch the goings-on.
Appy - thanks, a port will go down really well tonight. Here's to us!
Fifi !
Thats awful news about Blackie!
Oh! I wish people would NOT do this
same with slug repellents and birds :-(
I am worried about Harry and Dolly now :-(
I hope Ruperts nose will sniff a little better :-(
Fifi, so sorry to have the news about Blackie confirmed, and Jonnie with you every step of the way on slug pellets and not just in relation to birds. As I think I've already said, father-in-law's cat was killed by them and it's a horrible death. There are loads of benign alternative methods of getting rid of slugs and snails from beer traps to nematodes, nolne of which harm other wild/tame-life.
Coo, glad I wasn't going completely barmy (re: n-n).
Anna - hope you had a great time and didn't end up wrapped around a car seat!
Fifi - I'm so sorry. For my sins, I am studying stuff like this at the mo and it's driving the professionals crazy that so many well meaning but ignorant mop's are trying to control rats on their own. Apart from the obvious terrible consequences that you have experienced, there has been a 30% rise in the rat population in the last few years. One of the reasons for this is the build up of resistance to controls helped by badly administered poisons available over the counter.
Please everyone, if you have a problem with rats, call the council. As Fifi says, it's free and they know what they're doing.
Anyway, rant over - sorry, I know it's the beach and not the place. I'll try to behave in future!
It's a lovely day and I think I'll have a paddle to calm down.
Jonnie - am entirely with you about the use of Slug pellets - these are certainly rapidly lethal to cats (they cause fits and death often within hours). We see cases occasionally and a high
proportion die.
Rat poison and cats I'm less convinced of - most rat poisons are warfarin-based and interfere with blood clotting. Dogs love the bait, eat it and develop symptoms of bleeding eg from nose, mouth, vomiting blood and in poo.
(apologies if anyone's squeamish, sorry)
Severely affected dogs die within about 48hrs.
However, I've never seen a cat with it (they don't seem to find the bait as attractive) and 'relay poisoning' (Poisoning via eating the carcase of a poisoned animal) is uncommon with warfarin, according to our poisoning info. I admit, it is possible that cats which eat it could die before they are found, but we just don't get cats presenting with symptoms of bleeding due to warfarin in the way that we see dogs.
Don't get me wrong, I don't support in any way people putting poisons down willy-nilly. But I would say that 'poisoning' in general is often over-suspected in illnesses in cats and dogs, when after investigation other medical causes are often found.
Does anyone have anything for a headache? I'll just lie over here and let the waves lap my toes.
Hello everyone
The non-date is *tonight* not last night, so if you could extend all those lovely warm wishes for just a few hours longer.... :-)
RJD (229), I think that's the loveliest thing you've ever said to me and I am now all bouyant :-)
I'm walking there & back, so at least shouldn't fall prey to car seats. Loved the image though! (Sorry GM!)
Feel just awful for Fifi re Blackie; I've just dropped my 2 aged mogs at the lovely cattery, where they seem to get the run of the place - been going there for years. I'm escaping to visit M&D for a few days, starting Sunday pm. So I'll be off the beach from then until Thursday (may get chance for quick dash occasionally). But I'm making up for it by grabbing some rays now, and enjoying whoever it is that's rubbing sun cream into my back... mmm that's nice....
And I promise to pop back later tonight with tales of catastrophe and woe - I mean - of a pleasant and uncomplicated evening. Hmm. Would someone like to paint my nails for me - never got the hang of doing my right hand.
I love you all (and no, I haven't hit the chablis already!)
xx
Re Jonnie's "when did n-n become a man?"
erm...(coughs, slightly self consciously)...take your pick:
a. at birth
b. when his voice dropped
c. after wrestling a lion (bar)
d. when he was initiated into the Papua New Guinea pig ritual (Macclesfield branch)
I realise I could have posted under my real blog name in full, but I think you will agree it is a bit of a tongue full:
Yours
Baron Nikoli Nikolievitch Illya Snovstroski von Flanfeir-Llewelyn Sri Nisht Nasht Nosht de la Champignon Chalmondey St John Noodle.
(mr).
just catching up...
sorry to hear about your neighbour's inconsiderated friend fifi... have you spoken?
Good luck this evening (it was tomorrow yesterday?!) Anna R: advice?! dont mention the camels! Ah you'll be fine, be yourself.
To be sure I love the beach - just relaxing and a wee bit silly. And thats me.
There's something nestling in that tree...looks like....yes..look! Another one of Fiona's Easter Eggs! How ever many did she hide around the place - I've already eaten 6! I'll put this one onto the pile on the NCM bar.
now for a quick dip....guacamole i think!
n-n
xx
Thanks to Gossipmistress for that thoughtful and well-researched insight. Luckily I haven't berated anyone for (maybe) being responsible for Blackie's demise.
Alas, we don't know where he lives but we believe it's several gardens away - and the geography of this part of the village is such that we'd never be able to find him, even if he were there.
So, perhaps his time had just come. And all we did was make his last few days a bit less lonely and uncomfortable.
That, in many ways, is a comfort.
Fifi
Now here's a thing. I posted on Sequin's entry about a yummy dilemma. I've got three treats I love: black olives, sun-dried tomatoes and basmati rice. Money's short at the moment, but I've got a well-stocked storecupboard. Herbs, spices, sensible stuff like pulses.
Challenge, should you wish to accept it:
What shall I cook tonight?
Something Indian-oriented (if that's not a tautology) springs to mind; but I don't want to drown those olives and toms.

Nothing's come out since Aperitif at 2:27pm (hope the head's a bit better - I imagine lots of people have left you remedies around the place, but how are you to know??)
Is there a cure for beach constipation? Could we get the camels to help churn things up a bit? Sorry - I'm not liking the imagery either.
Figs, anyone...?
I've had to drag myself away from a sunny April garden, but I couldn't neglect you all any longer! I've only just caught up with the beach thread, but it sounds like you've all been extremely busy. Fifi, I'm sorry to hear about Blackie, and I send you lots of hugs ((()))
The one thing I haven't had a chance to do yet is listen to the latest mix - but that's next on my list and I'm really looking forward to it. I shall take my laptop behind the sand-dunes so if anyone fancies an ALBFAS cavort, you know where I am.
And I've brought some alcohol (I never seem to come here without it) to console those who need consoling, liven up those who are dozing next to the camels, add to the joys of those already consuming and because houses are so damn expensive in Surrey - how's a Yorkshire lass supposed to afford one??????
I've raided the drinks cabinet and I've come up with half a bottle of Ardbeg, some Bombay Sapphire, two bottles of Timothy Taylor's Landlord, and some Moet that was right at the back of the fridge.
I'm off for a sing-song........
Perky
Why would a Yorkshire lass *want* to move to Surrey? :-)
(nothing against Surrey, before anyone takes the hump, camel or otherwise)
Anna Rex : Good luck for tonight! I know what you mean about hoping it'll be pleasant and uncomplicated ... just be yourself and hope he'll be himself and that yourself and himself like each other's self....
Nuff babbling.
Nikki et al : sounds from talking to neighbour as if the ratpoison used was the 'proper stuff' and deployed in a 'proper box' -- came from a farm. Does that mean anything??
Well anyhoo, we are clinging to the idea it was Blackie's time to go, and that we may have made it a bit less horrible for him.
Now look everyone : it's 2 minutes to 7pm and Doctor Who. After that, I'll join you behind the dunes for that sing-song. Guitar and kazoos ahoy!!!
Fifi
Fifi - I'm sorry that my (239) looks a bit bullish reading it - I wrote it quickley at work, sorryx
Anna - good luck for tonight - hope he's not a Baldrick :-)
Nicki Noodle - re c - do you have video footage?
We'd all believe your manliness then. GGGrrrrrr!
Frances O
crush garlic, fry in oil, add diced onions and cook till soft. Turn heat down, add oregono cumin, chilli and pepper. Add tomatoes and little water/stock.
Now put in choice of protient: beans, pulses, chicken or beef etc. (not all!) Better if pre-cooked.
Cook til done - 20 mins. Eat with rice.

Anna (248) Good point, and one I've made several times to SO who has new job........
It's actually very nice down there, I have to say - just expensive!!
Hello, yes the head's better thanks. Funny old day. Sending good vibes to Anna for the date.
Hi Frog-Gang
Silly times again recently have meant no time to frog :o( Seems as though I'm not meant to have much "me-time" at the moment - Aw, poor me, does anyone play a violin?!!
Anyways, please can someone bring me up to date on the FrogSong...Fifi, I checked "Susan 14th Feb" and see you kindly instructed me, but only checked today, so prolly too late now?
At the risk of acquiring the label "a bit thick", could someone also tell me how to get onto Jonnie's web thingy easily?
Sorry to read about various things going wrong for some poor Froggers... hope everyone will manage to feel better/more positive/less apprehensive soon.
Hugs to anyone who needs them, and some warm home-made onion bread in the basket on the table, with Welsh butter, of course.
xx
Meant to ask earlier - are any of you wonderful Frogirlies doing the Race for Life? I'm signed up for the Bristol one, though the "Race" bit is somewhat lost on me considering I'll be walking at a comfortable pace, whilst chatting away to pals en route!!
Nighty night all - I'll check here tomorrow for any words of wisdom waiting for me re my 254.
xOx
Good evening to one and all. What a huge pile of empties over here...what have we got, Bombay Sapphire, Ardbeg, Moet, hey who had the party or are the camels running amok again?
I almost bought myself an easter egg on the way home from the match today, but decided that it was probably bad luck or some such. So if I turn up on the Beach with a begging bowl in the morning, would any good soul give me a little shaving or two? I'll give it a try :o)
Going to have a run along the top of the dunes to put myself to sleep, I'm not tired but too tired to do anything constructive, if you get my drift. Save me a comfy hammock xx
I'm back!
Thank you all for sending me love, positive vibes and generally good stuff all evening :-)
The good news is that no car seats were injured in the making of this production! (see GM 230 if confused). Nor, more importantly, was any self esteem.
It was all very pleasant, a bit uncomfortable at first, but the chablis helped oil the wheels, and everyone relaxed a bit. Have to say, he was quite easy on the eye... but then, I looked pretty gorgeous, in an effortlessly understated way, even if I say so myself. I would say nothing really ignited, except I did notice an awful lot of matched body language going on, which was odd - either he's a very skilled BL matcher, or something. Anyway, no plans for a replay, but I have to say if he asked I'd probably be interested enough for round 2. Then, why would he ask? Aw, shucks, now I'm playing "low self esteem woman" which isn't pretty. Pass the gin, someone!
Just hypothetically, what is the protocol here, were a woman to want to put out vaguely-interested vibes...?
ps Chris
I play the violin, and am playing it for you (and for me) right now...
Do you mean this one Chris:
Yes several of us play the violin but maybe you should ask Perky or ?Anna as my bridge is broken at the moment (not a euphemism..)
Fifi - sounds like a warfarin/Dicoumarol. I'm sure Blackie has had a healthier, happier and longer life because of your kindness to him/her. Here - have a glass of Shiraz :-)
Also, a toast to the good health and quick return of Alan Johnston.
:-( The mods are obviously busy on radio 3's website... just in my hour of need, as I sink into post-non-event-blues and badly need the company of accepting Froggers. And gin.
Did I mention it's exactly a year since SO did the Baldrick. Don't you hate anniversaries? I've decided, after Year One, no more anniversaries. Seems fair.
Right, that's MORE than enough wallowing. If nothing happens when I refresh next time, I'm off to bed and tomorrow will be a new day.
Love from Happy Anna
xx
Anna Rex - OK!, full report please.
Chris (above)
it's late now -- see if this link help?
Morning all - Happy Easter!
Special selection of croissants, pain au chocolat, toast, choloate spread, simnel cake, Easter eggs, boiled / fried / poached / scrambled eggs and egg nog, on the bar. Just to make sure all tastes on a theme of Easter are covered!
I'm going for a swim, since it's such a beautiful morning.
Anna

Anna Rex : glad last night wasn't gruesome!
Gossipmistress : now that you've made me see that Blackie probably WASN'T accidentally poisoned by an inept amateur rat catcher, we feel a bit better. Still putting out food for 2 more days though.
Chris the Pickle : there's plenty of time to add to the song! Use the link to the Froggers Refuge at the top of this page, then follow the link to the song -- it's over on the right. There are technical tips from Ed Iglehart there, you can chat to other froggers, and the song (so far) will play for you.
I've made an enormous pot of decaffeinated tea, if anyone would like to join me. I'm over there at that picnic table, in a pair of ill-advised shorts pretending it really is warm enough.....
Fifi
Anna, Gossip, Fifi & Jonnie:
Thankyou for all the links and things, I've had great fun listening to the Frogsong, and to The Lying Scotsman!
Takes me back to when I used to sing in folk groups in the RAF, eons ago... Even recorded a track on an LP once, in a studio in Germany - Tim played the guitar and I warbled. We didn't have a name for ourselves but after the recording someone suggested CITAN ('Cause It Took All Night) because it took 4and-a-half hours to record a 2and-a-half minute track!!!!! Goodness.
Anyway, I'll have a crack at doing a bit for the track and see if I can manage to follow EdI's scarily technical instructions!
Off to watch a movie with hubby, adult son and teendaughter now, after a lovely day at the Cotswold Water Park.
