For many, this day is one of the most important in the calendar and the consequences of today's actions can affect people's lives for a considerable time
So, maybe we should take a moment to consider...
A moment on the Lips, a LIFETIME on the Hips
T'was the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rare鈥檇,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thanks, if you please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt,
I said to myself, as I only can,
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So-away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
"Till all the additional ounces have vanished.鈥
I won't have a cookie-not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly... cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore...
But isn't that just what January鈥檚 for?
Unable to giggle, life's no longer a riot...
But hey, Happy Christmas and New Year to all and, to all, a GOOD DIET!

We've spent most of last night & this morning so far on the phone to antipodean relatives. Not really getting anything done here as far as a meal is concerned, but we're not bothered. Yet. I suppose hunger mey strike soon.
Really foggy in Manchester. Lights on in every room. Quite gloomy. Carol concerts yesterday were a riot. Apart from finishing later than we thought. (Had forgotten to allow for conductor's chat...) Some of the audience were dressed as elves, a snowman & (I think ) a reindeer - they stood up & jived through all the really poppy stuff. It was fun to watch them, but they must have been absolutely BOILING inside the costumes.
Anyway, Happy Christmas again, fellow froggers!

I'm taking advantage of the family being downstairs watching Shrek 2 to sneak up and log on to say hi. Lunch is nicely settling, and a glass of red is not far away:)
Thanks again to Eddie and everyone else involved in the Blog. You've shown how utterly pointless ideas (WOYW, iPM photos, and the Postcode Map) can take on a life of their own, and kept us all amused and informed for another year. Now enjoy your holiday!

As for the party dress, well, the images might have been a bit large, so no probs - it'll just have to go and party in the ether with DI Wyman's legendary speedos.

Belated Merry Christmas to Eddie and Team and all Froggers! Despite the fact that Santa brought me a cold, it's been a wonderful day, full of smiles and laughter and presents and hugs and food and friends and drinks. A belated Happy Christmas and an early Happy New Year to Eddie and to you all. I haven't stopped until now, but everyone is settled watching TV (Shrek 3 - sorry for the one-upmanship, FF !!) and at last I can slope off up here to see you all again.
Sorry the poor old blog got me down in recent months - I am indeed looking forward to Jan 7, although I'm glad Eddie told us not to hold our breath - if we were to do so there wouldn't be any froggers left for all this excitement!
The sun is shining in Shropshire; I hope it shines on all of you, too!

At least you had dial-up... my ISP was off line last night and most of today. My highlight of yesterday: using my new telephoto lens to get a beautiful picture of the full moon against the morning sky and finding it well beyond my expectations - crater shadows and everything.
