Andrea McKinnon writes a review of yesterday's penultimate MacAulay and Co. show of the fest...

So You Think You're Funny?: Tommy Rowson, Nicola Mantalios-Lovett, Andy Clark and Fern Brady

Busy, busy today as the Finalists of "So you think you're funny?" competition came in mass to the MacAulay & Co. green room. They was certainly a buzz and maybe a tiny hint of fear as the nine finalist paced back and forth eagerly awaiting their chance to take the stage and wow not only our live audience but also the listeners at home. The " So you think you're funny?" competition is a big event at the Fringe with many famous faces such as Peter Kay, Lee Mack and Rhona Cameron being finalists in previous years.

Budding comedians get eight minutes to impress a judging panel with their best material and then put into heats before they are weeded down to the final 9 finalists who compete in the finals which is to take place tonite at the Gilded Balloon. Being on the show today was great practice for them to perform one last time for a live audience and despite their nerves everyone did a fantastic job and got a lot of laughs. All of the finalist definitely have a long career ahead of them no matter what the outcome.

We also had Canadian comedian Craig Campbell who was absolutely amazing. He brought the house down with this hilarious tales of being a Canadian in Scotland and the mishaps that he had gotten into with a simple mispronunciation of a pasty. Andrew Bird who just had a baby boy also took the stage and did some brilliantly funny stuff about his cooking skills which had the audience in stitches.
Stuart Baggs - The Brand

On the couch we had Arthur Smith, Shappi Khorsandi and Stuart Baggs who were all talking about their various shows and making various jokes with each other through out the conversation. Today really was fantastic. Everyone was funny, everyone was excited about being there and most of all the audience was brilliant providing hilarious answers to the the surveys we had given them pre-show.

All of us can't believe that tomorrow is out last day..it will be a mixed bag of emotions ranging from happiness because a 5 am start is no longer required yipeee! But also sadness as all of us on the MacAulay & co team have had a blast doing the shows and even though it's only been two weeks... it feels much longer. I will miss the high fives, the running around, the official headsets and most of all the friendly faces that greet you every morning.
