It's the first Sunday of Advent and on this week's Sunday Morning programme, my special first hour guest, is best selling author and journalist, - an interesting man, who spent a year travelling around Italy, before returning to Britain and opening up a community for people going through troubled times. I don't think I could give up a regular, family life to live in this kind of way, but clearly this is an innovative and indeed selfless man, whose vision and principles go beyond the ordinary.

This Thursday is - 30 years have passed since HIV was recognized - and Reverend Marion Chatterley, spiritual and pastoral care co-coordinator at the HIV charity joins me to talk about some of the changes and advances in treatment that have occurred over that period of time.

A new and pioneering scheme established by the Church of Scotland is discussed, when I'll be hearing from two ministers, who were recently ordained on a part time basis. We'll be discussing why they are giving up 10 hours of their week, unpaid, to serve in a ministerial role, at their local church.

There's more about two remarkable women explorers from Irvine - - and their amazing discoveries in Egypt.

And with 4 weeks to go till the big day, is Christmas more about the ringing of cash registers than bells? Listen out for a new adult Nativity play which tries to bring back the real meaning of Christmas.
