Comparing the £55 to the shelf price of £40 is a mis representation of the numbers, most games currently taking preorders for the run up to christmas have a RRP of 49.99, Modern Warfare 2 has £54.99. However the actual price people will pay is likely to be the same as was paid for World at War last year.

The game is still £42 on Gameplay so that seems to the best we can get, which to be honest isn't great, but it's not bad either.

All I have to do then is spend about a grand upgrading my PC to be able to run it. What a fantastic idea.

But either way, PCs are great long term investments. Super multi-media machines that can last a long time. My quad core is two years old, it'll still be playing games of today on MAX settings.

On one side of things ; Call Of Duty 4 is a classic , it has millions of fans ( literally ) and will easily be the biggest seller of the year after being out just a month. On the other side ; other anticipated games that appear on a regular basis ( Fifa series , Pro' Evo' etc ) may also feel their games are worth more than the average 40 pounds price tag to. I think this will sell and people will be buying BUT as stated in the show " with gritted teeth " . I'll pay it , if I cannot find it cheaper. I'll draw the line on the night vision special edition pack though!

P.S. We get paid more money in average in the UK.

And how do they repay that loyalty. By asking us to bend over and take one in the backside. If anything they should be reducing the price. Seriously Activision get a grip and stop turning into a greedy money grabbing corporation.

But i am more interested in the prestige edition, £119.99 for a game, the artwork, steelcase, free download of the very first call of duty and fully functional night vision goggles. Any hardcore call of duty fan will be buying this and so the price is cheap as night vision goggles are atleast £100, so you get the game for £20. Solved!

I paid top price for the 1st game, but I played it for 200+ hours (I know i will do the same with the new one) that works out at about 23p per hour. Plus when you're bored sell it or trade it in, and get 20 quid back.
If you go to the movies you pay £8-10 for a ticket which works out at about £4-5 per hour of entertainment. And if it turns out that the movie was ribbish , you can't get that money back!
I'll be buying that prestige edition! If the night vision goggles are any good then the game will be a steal. You would pay mega bucks for proper NV goggles!

Infinity Ward are removeing dedicated server and modding support which means PC online play quality will drop a lot max of 12 to 18 players per game, game host has zero ping thus advantage, network relies on customers own connection and host connection IE peer to peer. Lack of modding support means no maps from the community at all.

However if you are a PC gamer, everything changes and IMHO not for the better.
Lets address a statement made here just so you all know exactly whjat you are buying into;-
Plus when you're bored sell it or trade it in, and get 20 quid back.
Sorry that wont work as your game is tied to your Steam account which is not transferrable and may not be traded or sold. Buy the game and you are stuck with it for life bored or not.
No Dedi servers or map or mod tools.
John Abrahamson is listed in the credits for the game. Who is he? Mr Abrahamson was a mapper and modder in COD1 who won his job in a worldwide competion for creating the custom map Stanjel. How will the next gen of mappers and modders get noticed if that avenue is removed? Shame on you Johm Abrahamson sold out to the corporation.
What exactly do PC players get from MW2 that is new an unique? Very little actually, a few new maps, some new skins and some new weapons, little else.
big things are made of some of the 'Amazing new features"
Whats new Knives? Nope thats not new, ripped off from PST*Jokers eXtreme mod
AC130 Gunship? guess what Joker has that in his mod for cod4 as well.
Will IW/AVTI acknowledge this in the credits? Highly unlikely.
oh yeah you do get the chance to run round in an airport departure lounge massacreing innocent men, women and children as one of the game chapters that at least is a game original.
The game has been so dumbed down to make it play on the limited capabilities of the console that any £399 off the shelf in PC world should be more than capable of playing it, so the earlier argument that saving money buy buying the PC rather than the overpriced rip off console version is a false economy is also an erroneous argument.
