Assassin's Creed 2: Is it any good?

Part two of the renaissance based action adventure game A.C.2 has returned. Now there was something about the 1st edition that caught the imagination of gamers.
This time around the developers tried to be different in the design, where stealth is the name of the game. Set in Florence Italy during times Assassins Creed 2 tries to take it to a higher level. The 1st and most striking thing is the look of this game. It really is beautiful, the recreation of mediveval Italy looks very realistic.

Another feature of the 1st episode was the movement around the city.
The way your character moves runs and jumps is a joy to watch and you will take a real delight in making death defying jumps, balancing on flag poles and leaping 5 storeys down into a cart filled with hay. (Whoop Whoop). All of this has been improved with even more realistic movement and some killer finishing moves and talking of killer moves over 20 new weapons have been added.

A new approach to stealth has been employed. You can now hire people to cause distractions like throwing money in the street to cause a riot and thus help you escape from a sticky situation. (Very Cunning).

You have 16 missions to complete and you will even befriend Leonardo Da Vinci on the way. All of this old school action and stealth has a back drop. I'll let you into a secret, turn you're head away if you don't wanna know the full plot). You're not really there you are actually re-living the genetic memories of one of your fore-fathers in an attempt to get to the bottom of an ancient conspiracy that has you at the centre. Clues are given through out the game and as you progress it all becomes clearer that there is more to this game than meets the eye.

My biggest problem is the similarity in missions which start to become boring and quite tedious. This game is something of a marmite game there is a lot to like but you could also end up being very annoyed. You will either play this right to the end in one sitting or you won't be able to get past the half hour opening scene which was way too long.

I was somewhere in between, jaw on the floor from the graphical beauty of the game to then falling asleep waiting for the game to start. That said its definitely still a game worth picking up, my advice would be just go an make your tea whilst the opening scene is on!
