³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Heritage brought along a wonderful collection of radios from down the years, and some of the iconic microphones with which we've heard such historic voices.Ìý The collection carries right on through to the modern day so included iconic eighties ghetto blasters, and the first DAB devices.Ìý

Our colleagues from the FM&T Blue Room had brought their road show along with a great demonstration of the range of modern devices capable of delivering radio, and the obligatory 3D televisions (OK maybe not the most appropriate things for a radio festival, but they're always fun!)

At one end of the TV studio a suite of radio production spaces were set up, and over the three days a whole range of shows went out live from the exhibition floor, including at one point a very entertaining 'folk off' between the Radio Ulster Morning Show from Gerry Anderson and Radio One's Greg James.

R&D Stand at the Making Connections: Festival of Radio

Meanwhile back on our own stand we were demonstrating a wide range of audio and radio themed demos, including the very earliest stages of some experiments we're doing with the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Philharmonic, and the Legacy project from ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Scotland and ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ 7.

A trip out to Belfast like this is really valuable for us.Ìý We get so much from sharing our work with the audiences- it really can't be overstated.Ìý We'd especially like to thank all the students from colleges who took the time to ask us the really challenging questions, and those retired staff who still have so much to share and do so willingly at these shows.Ìý With a bit of luck we'll be back over the water before long.
