Photo of Gina and Jack

Gina and Jack's love on the airwaves certainly warmed up the frosty festive air in Shieldinch. Having their romantic encounter broadcast live meant that the cat was out of the bag, big-style. In the gossip-ridden aftermath the best line belonged to Molly, telling Jack, who was unaware of his live show: 'And they say that video killed the radio star!'.

So Jack got sacked and dumped by Hayley, his girlfriend/boss, and as for Murray and Gina - what next? With Gina confessing that she finds Murray 'boring' and him retaliating by telling her he'd known about the affair for weeks, etc etc, it was atomic.

Curious as to why the scriptwriters put Gina and Jack together? Show producer Lizzie filled us in on some secrets from the writers' room.

The idea for the Gina/Jack/Murray/Hayley storyline came from a desire to put characters we know and love in morally difficult situations. Gina loves Murray and doesn't understand why she kisses Jack in the first place whereas Jack's relationship with Hayley has been under growing pressure in his eyes. Throw in how Murray, Hayley and the rest of Shieldinch will react if, or when, they find out and a simple drunken kiss becomes a potentially explosive situation.
Sometimes it's great for the audience to be 'in' on a story before the characters are, but this time we really wanted to surprise everyone and keep them guessing about what will happen next. Hopefully we've pulled that off!

Sorry but I thought this episode was really poor. I've been a fan for a while, but maybe I've just run my course with RC.

Jings every week is getting better and better.Im just sorry that Gina ever got involved with that low life Jack.I felt so sorry for poor Murray when he heard what was on the radio he was absolutely heart broken especially when he was going to propose to her. What on earth did Gina see in Jack, Murray was the best thing that had ever happened to her.Ginas got a lot of making up to do she will be very lucky if Murray takes her back. And Haley youre better off without that creep in youre life he is not worth it.Good on ye for sacking him hes just humiliated you.Now Gina has told Murray the reason why she cheated on him its out in the open. Now she will really have to work at getting her and Murray back together again it wont be an easy time for them but she really must sort things out.

Im sure if they try again their relationship will get stronger and they will eventually get married as Murray is so well suited to Gina.As for Scarlet im just heart broken to hear that shes got cancer and the sooner Jimmy and the family find out the better as she needs love and support through this very upsetting time. When she tried to get Maddona to go on stage as Mary it was so lovely what she said to encourage her.She did really well and her wee voice was lovely.I really hope and pray that Scarlet gets through this, i and many others will be heart broken if we loose Scarlet as shes such a brilliant character. It was bad enough when we lost Shona i cried buckets at that episode, miss Shona so much.I just hope that Murray and Gina get back together and are happier,Raymond and Eileen do get married once the baby comes and Eileen realises just how much Raymond means to her.Big Bob and Iona get together and realise how much they do like each other but most importantly Scarlet comes through this and her treatment works. Then that will certainly make my Christmas.Just wanted to say thankyou to all the River city cast and crew for such a brilliant programme.Looking forward to the next episodes.Well done and Merry Christmas to you all and all the best for the New Year.
