Tom and Amy take their final bow in Musicals Week

They've kept us entertained with so many fantastic routines this series, but unfortunately Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden's time in the competition came to an end in our Musicals special.

The couple performed an emotional Couple's Choice routine to On My Own from Les Misérables on Saturday night, but found themselves joint bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 31. Once the public vote had been combined with their mark, Tom and Amy had to face their first ever Dance Off, going up again Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu.

Both pairs brought their best to the Ballroom once again, but the Judges ultimately voted in Rhys and Nancy's favour. When making his decision, Judge Anton Du Beke said: “I agree with the other Judges, it was an outstanding Dance Off. On Saturday night Rhys made a slight mistake and Tom didn’t really fulfil his potential in the dance. Tonight, both couples danced exquisitely but just a very slight edge goes to Rhys and Nancy.”

Judge Motsi Mabuse and guest Judge Cynthia Erivo also chose to save Rhys and Nancy, while Head Judge Shirley revealed she would have kept Tom and Amy in the competition. However the majority vote sealed Tom and Amy's fate and brought their Strictly experience to an end.

When asked by Tess about his time on the show, Tom said: “Honestly I’ve had the best time, I’ve loved every second of it. I’ve made the best friend in Amy, you’ve been amazing, thank you so much for teaching me how to dance. I know it was a struggle at times! It’s an amazing show, everyone that works on it, all of you guys have been amazing, I’ve loved getting to know you. Thank you so much, it’s been the best experience and I don’t regret a single minute of it, so thank you everyone so much. I’m gutted to leave.”

Amy replied by saying: “I really wasn’t ready for this. I’ve loved every single second from the bottom of my heart. Who gets to say they got to go on tour with McFly?! Tom has given his all and he is so humble, so genuine, so talented. The whole Fletcher family, they welcomed me in with opened arms and honestly I couldn’t have wished for a better time. These memories are going to live with me for the rest of my life, and I’m telling you this now, the Fletchers are not getting rid of Amy.”

We've absolutely loved watching Tom develop into a dancer this series and we'll definitely miss this fantastic partnership. But there is one last chance to see them together! Catch Tom and Amy on It Takes Two, tomorrow at 6.30pm on 成人论坛 Two.
