Not sure why the Beeb is in so much pain over a couple of percent ? Surely an inflation settlement now is better than an above average settlement which in ten years leads to it being abolished since public support has been lost ?

Most commercial enterprises are able to leverage 10% productivity improvements year-on-year, and have to 'do more with less'. Surely the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ will have to be more efficient, and can twaddle like 'Storyfix' which could be done just as well by a couple of kids on YouTube ?

If this means the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ will now abandon its ridiculous and expensive pc-inspired plans to move the news & sport station Radio Five Live to Manchester just when it will need to be in London to cover the 2012 Olympics, then it will be a silver lining indeed.
