Mid-terms elections news

New York Times: Various factions within the Republican coalition are already blaming each other for next month's expected defeat - a feud one conservative has dubbed "pre-criminations".

Washington Post: The Virginia Senate candidates are getting endorsements from the highest possible backers - George Bush and Bill Clinton.

Los Angeles Times: Republican leaders in California's Orange County are distancing themselves from their own House candidate after he is linked to a racially charged campaign letter.

okay. we are in the middle of a civil war in Iraq just like in Vietnam. The military and the civilian leadership are incompetent today as they were in the 60's and the 70's. We can not prevent the Shia and Shittes and should reposistion(see all civil wars). borrowing from the chinese to spend money in Iraq is not a prudent step as we spiral down to bankruptcy.

Come on,our defense budget during the cold war was 400Billion. It still that and the total terrorist may be 150k worldwide. does not make sense.

You say only 2,772 American soldiers have died, and compared that to the 20,000 American soldiers who died during the Vietnam War. The small number of deaths in the more recent war is entirely due to the heroic efforts of the medical teams - they are now able to save people with horrific injuries who thirty years ago would have died. Ask how many American soldiers are living horribly maimed as a result of the Iraq war. Let's have an honest, complete discussion and give due honor to those that have greatly sacrificed for this war and thanks to the medical teams for saving so many. For some reason reporting on the number of horrible injuries incurred in the Iraq war has been almost non-existent...politics do you suppose?

I've just seen the new GOP campaign ad for the Mid Terms and I have to say, "Where the positive agenda?". There was a time in US elections when I can remember people saying "Vote for us and we will give you lower taxes and a better deal for all!". Isn't there a party in the US who can reflect on the positive issues for once?
