Port Talbot actor has been nominated for an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Tony Blair in The Special Relationship.
He joins fellow Welsh actor on the nominations list, as the Holywell-born actor picked up a nod in the category of outstanding supporting actor in a miniseries or movie - for his role as Mr. Buxton in Return To Cranford.
Another Welshman, Christopher Monger, was also nominated for his work as a writer on the HBO film Temple Grandin.
The nominations for the prestigious Emmy Awards were announced yesterday. Hosted by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Emmys are considered the most prestigious awards for the television industry.
Michael Sheen has also been speaking about his role in the forthcoming Disney film Tron: Legacy, a sequel to the groundbreaking 1982 film Tron. Sheen plays the part of Castor, a flamboyant nightclub host.
"The director he told me my character was a showman and to bring huge energy to the part, to make it very colourful and vivid and totally different than everything else that has come before in the film.
"He owns this club and he's supposedly the coolest cat in the city. But Castor's also kind of a chameleon so you're never quite sure who the real him is because it keeps changing all the time.
"I played him with a little bit of Frank-N-Furter , a little bit of Ziggy Stardust and a little bit of Joel Grey from Cabaret."
