Chasing Shevchenko

STADE JOSY BARTHEL, LUXEMBOURG - Ricco and I are currently in Luxembourg's modest national stadium waiting for their friendly match against Ukraine, which is a matter of minutes away.
Luxembourg have provided World Cup warm-up opposition for Germany, Portugal and now Ukraine.
But in all honesty we are not really here to watch Luxembourg complete their very own World Cup group (sort of) or monitor the form of the Ukrainians but to try to persuade to sign some of our T-shirts.
I cannot help but think we might have missed our chance.
We arrived nice and early. I decided to find where my seat is and saw the Shev sat quietly in the dugout minding his own business.
Alas, by the time I had found Ricco and grabbed a couple of T-shirts the Chelsea striker was nowhere to be seen.
I thought he was supposed to be recovering from injury - and indeed is only on the bench for this match - but there seemed to be no lack of pace when from the Shev when it came to disappearing from view.

A shame indeed - but why oh why get Shev's signature? Don't say it - you're going to sell it on e-bay to some Ukranian dude, right?!

Jonathan, if we succeed in getting Shev's autograph - and he has just come on as a second-half sub - the T-shirts will become prizes for a Sport Relief competition.

Best of luck Fletch - hope you manage to get Shev's autograph in the end..
Also how is Luxembourg? What's the food like? Have you met any England fans there? Questions, questions...

the eve of the tournament is upon us and i find myself asking, "Who Should i support, who do i want to win?" cos as an irishman we just aint there this time. we will not add to our memories this time. I've great memories of Euro 88, ray houghton's goal against england and Van basten's hatrick against england
lets hope germany will be good again. I have a soft spot for the dutch but for my English friends i would like england to do well. I'm just not sure i could cope with them if england actually won. so i'll support england till the semis hopefully
