She is currently in Australia and loving the life down under... I have been here in Sydney for nearly two month.  I can't believe how quickly the time has past me by; it doesn't feel like I've been here one month let alone nearly two. But I must say it’s been two of the best months ever. I've met so many people from all over the world and have seen and experienced so much. Now comes the time to put it all down in writing so you guys can know what I've been up to on the other side of the world. Well let's see – I'll start from the beginning shall I (and I'll try to keep it short as possible). It all began back on 7 January, when I touched down in Sydney airport. I was so happy to be back in Western civilization and the icing on the cake was my cousin Becky picking me up from the airport. It was fantastic to see her and see her little boy Joe, (what a cutie he is,) and to finally meet her partner Gordy, what a great guy he is too.  Baby Joe on the beach I spent my first few days with them in their flat in the Bondi area of Sydney and then headed down the coast to a place called Wonona, beautiful coastal town an hour or so south on the train from Sydney. We have some family friends who live down there and I spent a wonderful few days with them enjoying delicious food, stunning beaches and fabulous company – thank you Garry and Cathy. Whilst here I met their son’s Nick and Jono, and it was with Jono and his mates that I next went to stay with in Glebe – the student area of Sydney. They put me up for a week in their place which was right by the water and a gorgeous park. I had a blast staying with those guys – they're a good bunch of lads. From there I then moved to a backpacker’s hostel called 'Noah's' right by Bondi beach.  A komodo dragon at Torongo Zoo Here I met up with two mates from Truro, Coleen and Natalie. I spent the following week there and we had a grand time and made so many great friends. By day our time was mainly spent lying on the beach and soaking up the rays and by night we drank 'goon' which is what they call wine in a box over here – very, very cheap and as you can imagine, not the nicest tasting stuff. In amongst the fun filled days and nights I also managed to acquire some work at Triple M radio station in the city – a friend of my cousin's works there and she asked if I would be able to cover her one day doing what I did back at ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Cornwall, a Broadcast Assistant.  Sydney from Torongo Zoo I spent one day answering the listeners calls regarding competitions, traffic, etc – just like I did at the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳, it was like a home from home. Unfortunately there was no permanent work to come of it, as they have all the staff that they need at the moment. OK, moving on. Let me see – I'll tell you all about the touristy things that we have done. There was Torongo Zoo – great day out with Coleen and another friend Pamela from Canada. Saw lots of amazing animals – tigers, elephants, giraffes, wombats, koala bears, a komodo dragon and so many more.  Rachael and friends at Australia Day We've been down to the Opera House and looked around there – stunning architecture, and from there you can see the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge – which before I leave Sydney I will do the bridge walk that you can do – apparently the views from up there are the best you can get. One day that I loved was Australia Day – 26 January. On that particular day me and some mates went into the city to take in the atmosphere – they sure do love their country here – all walking around wearing their flag and also many had it tattooed on themselves – from young children to their grandparents.  Rachael with her Koala Teddy We ended up going to Darling Harbour and watching some live music in one of the parks there. For the past two and a half weeks I have been working. Now that was difficult. I always thought that it would be really easy to find work here – but I was proved wrong. Eventually after a long week handing out CV's I got offered a job at a café in Bondi Junction – it was a nice place to work, but the pay was awful and I only stayed one week. I am now working at a restaurant down 'On the Rocks' which is by Circular Key. It’s called 'The Orient Hotel', and so far so good. As a rule I'm going to be doing Mondays to Fridays, 10.30am till 5pm – not bad hey for a waitressing job. I'm planning on staying here until mid May and then my mate who I was traveling with in Asia is coming out and we are going to continue our adventure together up in Queensland, starting in Cairns and then travelling back down the East coast – can't wait to see her again – you’re the best Nay.
