of Plymouth.
+ The record for the most number of surfers on a board was
broken in 1989 at Fistral Beach, Newquay. Twelve surfers rode
a 37ft longboard shaped by Tim Mellors.
Overlooked
by the St Ives Tate Gallery, Porthmeor
Beach
offers waves that are suitable for beginners to intermediate.
Porthmeor
Beach in St Ives
Porthmeor beach faces a n/nw direction so it is fairly sheltered
from west or south west swells.
During a South Westerly wind it blows cross-offshore making it a
useful spot when most of the North coast is blown out. Works best
from low - mid tide. Gets very crowded in the Summer months.
