This episode twisted and turned so many times it was hard to know which way was up by the time our heroes saved the day.

Okay, Crichton nearly died again, but as usual Farscape puts a spin on its stories. It was mighty scary seeing our optimistic, always-ready-with-a-plan hero go to pieces to the extent he did.

There were so many funny, touching, cringing moments in this episode that the ending was simply the icing on the cake. And how fitting is it that Chiana's strongest trait is her sex drive?! All the shippers who have been pulling their hair out at Crichton's behaviour finally get some explanation, and a full-blown admission of love, as once again the chemistry betweeen these two characters keep us viewers shouting, 'Why the frell can't you just get it together?!'

Two words for this episode - frelling suberb!

At the beginning of this episode, I thought that it was going to be the same old story of 'an alien nasty gets on to the ship, they kill it, the end!' Thankfully I was wrong.

The idea of the crew's strongest emotions being taken was cleverly constructed. The actors played their parts superbly, especially (a very-much underused) Claudia Black and the ever excellent Gigi Edgely.

The alien itself was reasonably impressive. Unfortunately the premise of it being disguised as a slave girl didn't really have any sort of impact, as it was obvious who the bad guy was going to be.

But to be fair, the emphasis wasn't on the alien storyline but on the resolution of the Crichton/Aeryn relationship . So, while Twice Shy may not be the best episode of Farscape, it allowed some older plot lines to be tied up while still providing forty-five minutes worth of good quality entertainment.

Been here before. Alien gets on Moya, messes with people’s brains and then gets blown away. Wouldn’t it be nice if just for once it was someone other than Crichton who plugged the ugly?

I understand now why the SciFi Channel say this is so expensive to make. There is nothing in it that isn’t done beautifully. Just look at that spider - as convincing as anything done anywhere else on big or small screen. And it blew up rather nicely as well.

But all of this just acts as a backdrop to the continuing superb performances by the cast. Required to turn their characters inside out, they do so in an utterly convincing way. They are not just playing another character, but their character having a character change.

And finally John & Aeryn resolve the will they/won’t they plot again but retain the tension through the worry about Scorpius. The consummation of these type of plot lines normally signals the end for a TV series, but Farscape has done it once and got away with it, and looks like they are going to do it again.
