Camp Bling, as it has become known, is the home of a group of eco-warriors determined to halt the building of a new link road in Southend.

They have erected tree houses and other buildings out of wooden pallets close to the burial site of a Saxon King.

The protestors have lost a public inquiry which had given Southend Council permission, to carry out the works at Priory Crescent, to alleviate congestion to and from the east of the town.

Two years on, and the Government has yet to decide whether to give the council the 拢25,000,000 it requires to widen the road.

Meanwhile the protestors have laid down their roots and have a communal area to live in.

Southend Borough Council has revealed major changes to the Priory Crescent road-widening scheme. Officials say that the proposal will not harm Priory Park.

The new plans are cutting it's costs by half, requiring a shorter distance of the A127 to be widened and preserving the burial ground of the Saxon King currently occupied by 'Camp Bling' protesters.

Conservative leader of Southend Borough Council, Nigel Holdcroft, spoke to 成人论坛 Essex's Georgette Ginn and explained that a new version of the scheme is essential.

Despite this news, residents of Camp Bling say they wont be leaving any time soon, as they don't want ANY part of the road to widened.
