The 成人论坛 Philharmonic return to Victoria Hall with conductor Ben Gernon for this performance featuring Beethoven鈥檚 famous Symphony No. 5 and Ravel鈥檚 Piano Concerto in G with soloist Juan P茅rez Florist谩n.

The concert begins with the sparkling music of Offenbach鈥檚 spoof on the Greek myth of Helen of Troy La Belle H茅l猫ne. Telling the story of the rivalry between Paris and H猫l茅ne鈥檚 husband Menelaus for her favour.

Complimenting this will be Norwegian composer Svendsen鈥檚 Carnival in Paris - the second of three carnival pieces in Svendsen鈥檚 oeuvre, filled with Romanticism, this piece has become one of Svendsen鈥檚 most frequently played works.

The 成人论坛 Philharmonic will be joined by pianist Juan P茅rez Florist脿n to perform Ravel鈥檚 Piano Concerto in G Major. The light-hearted piece fulfils Ravel鈥檚 aim to write something fanciful and entertaining.

Ending the concert is the instantly recognisable four notes of Beethoven鈥檚 5th Symphony, a heroic journey from darkness to light, shifting in tone throughout before ending in triumph.
