St Martin in the Fields
Join the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Singers and Chief Conductor Sofi Jeannin in the stunning surroundings of St Martin-in-the-Fields for a concert of reflective music to mark the end of the season of Remembrance.
At the heart of the programme is John Tavener’s Requiem Fragments, a sequence of short, intimate movements which alternate scoring and spiritual references. It is paired with other works by Tavener – his haunting and powerful Song for Athene, a ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ commission for the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Singers, arguably made famous by its inclusion in the funeral service of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Alongside music by Tavener is Barber’s own choral arrangement of his best-loved Adagio for Strings, and two reverential works by Kristina Arakelyan.
