Even better if I'd known the language

I lived in Germany on and off for about three years where I worked for several video postproduction companies. I found the language barrier was not so great in my working environment because of the technical nature of my job and the very good level of English of my colleagues. Due to time constraints I was unable to take lessons but during the time I found that I picked up a good general understanding of the language. I found people in Germany very friendly and I'm sure if I would have learned the language I would have enjoyed the time even more.Because my girlfriend is German the chances of returning are quite good and then I would employ a more structured approach to learning the language.
