Language school as a must
I'm so thrilled reading about Sue's experiences in AndalucÃa. Her diary touched on many issues that I myself feel quite uncertain about. I'm going to be in Sevilla for six months starting next month. First and foremost, there is the problem with the Spanish language. I have acquired some level of Spanish grammar and some very basic vocabulary. Hardly sufficient. Like Sue, I don't want to forever stay at a level of 'pigeon Spanish'. So, language school looks like a must when I reach Spain next month.

Fine, be very welcome here in advance. It's probably true Spanish people from the town will be much more friendly if they see you make efforts to speak our language. There's something you don't see when you come to settle here: life in Southern Spain is different. Not for you, also for us Northern Spanish. Time works slower there, I'm from Barcelona, and it would be an effort to settle there too. Try to merge, try to join town fiestas, try to improve the language (never blame them if they repeat your words in the correct way, they're trying to please you, not embarass you). Good luck!
