Learn 500 words to get started like yes, no, today, days of the week and other commonly used words and then use different combinations. Many people probably do not use more than 5oo words. Listen to music in the language you're learning. Chat to lots of people who are native speakers of the language you're learning. I have never studied Spanish but speak fluently just from chatting to people.
