Frank question
The girlfriend of a French colleague was visiting, and came out to the pub with a group of friends. Unfortunately she wasn't able to follow much of the conversation and was looking a bit fed up. I asked if she was bored: Vous êtes ennuyeuse ? Immediately my friend corrected me - I think you mean Vous ennuyez-vous ? My first effort actually came across as 'you are boring'!

Indeed ENNUYEUX means boring if you are talking about someone. Ennuyeuse for the feminine.
Ennuyeux can also mean annoying and regrettable. I find that it is not used for people, but abstract things such as an annoying situation, "c'est ennuyeux" (it's a little annoying).
For that meaning (annoying) you can also say ENNUYANT. That word does not mean boring. That's the word to use for an annoying person.
To sum up, someone can be ennuyeux et ennuyant. Please don't say like me, I was trying to help! lol
Ennui means trouble. Ennuyant (adjective from the verbal form) means causing the trouble (annoying). Ennuyeux (adjective) means annoying as well.
Ennui can also mean Boredom. Adjective ennuyeux means boring.
