I've dipped myself

I'd met a very handsome boy and we set a time to meet again later. However, when I arrived and he wasn't there, I realised I had gotten the time wrong so I wrote him a note: ... je me suis trempée. At least he got a good laugh. I meant to say, ... je me suis trompée. I've made a mistake and instead I'd chosen the wrong vowel and written, 'I've dipped myself'. And so I had.
