English rats and Swedish owls
I like the Swedish equivalent of the English saying 'I smell a rat' which is Jag anar ugglor i mossen, meaning 'I sense owls in the swamp'.

In Norwegian it is det er ugler i mosen, meaning "there are owls in the moss". Mose is one of those words that has a different meaning in Norwegian and Danish.
Funny how things translate. The sentence is very similar in Danish: Der er ugler i mosen, meaning "There are owls in the swamp".
"I smell a rat" equivalent to the Danish "ugler i mosen" is in fact a misunderstanding, as the original was "ulver" (wolves). Besides, "mosen" here means "heather".
