Meuh!
While searching for a word in my French dictionary recently, I came across the word meugler, meaning "to moo". I was in hysterics as my friends debated whether French cows say meugle instead of "moo"! :o)
Editor's note: In fact, the French cows say meuh!!!

I love the duck's "coin coin" when pronounced correctly sounds more like a duck than "quack" does!
In Albanian you call a cat "
In Filipino (Tagalog)...
cow -
chicken -
dog -
cat -
frog -
I have some sheep in the garden of my French house and they must think I'm their mother because they say "
One of my favourite French words is '
Answering to Yulia's comment, I should say that in Spanish we use a similar sound to call cats: bshhh, bshhh!
They should answer you with a warm miauuu!
This is a funny thread! Ok, here's some more animal noises:
In Russian, the cows also say moo but the roosters say kukarekuuuuu and the pigs go hru, hru with a soft r sound. The frogs say kva, kva and the dogs go gav, gav. And how funny is this - the crows yell kaaarr, kaaarr! That's all I can think of right now. It's starting to sound like a Russian version of Old McDonald's had a farm :)
Another interesting thing is that in Russian, you'd say ksss, ksss when calling a cat to come to you (but it's not used for a dog). I wonder if they have something like this in another language.
Languages within india have a lot of variation...
Dogs say gheu gheu in Bengali, they say bhawk bhawk in Hindi and if I'm not mistaken it's something else in Tamil too...!
Speaking of cows... in French, if someone speaks a language badly, you say :" il parle ...comme une vache espagnole" i.e " Il parle Anglais comme une vache espagnole" - He speaks English like a Spanish cow ...LOL
