The Antiques Roadshow in Norfolk

The Antiques Roadshow, 成人论坛 ONE's popular Sunday evening programme, invites you to join the show when it visits historic Holkham Hall near Wells-next-the-Sea, on Thursday 18 May, 2006.

A fine collection of Britain's leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors, when 成人论坛 ONE's The Antiques Roadshow visits Holkham Hall, on Thursday 18 May, 2006.

Visitors are invited to raid their attics and bring along their family heirlooms, household treasures and car boot bargains for inspection by the experts.

Michael Aspel, who has presented the programme for the past six years, will be accompanying the Roadshow as it travels around Britain.

"The Antiques Roadshow is literally a national treasure. It's a detective story, a game show and a history lesson" said Michael.

Series Editor Simon Shaw said the team are looking forward to visiting Holkham Hall.

"It's always exciting to see what will come to light on the day. We regularly see between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors on the day. Despite the high turnout, everyone will get to see an expert," he said.

Area of interest

Over the years the Roadshow has visited Norfolk eight times and each time received a warm welcome.

The area provides a rich repository of gems as it attracts items related to the sea, objects collected from a farming heritage, as well as those relating to the countries around the world visited by the seafaring inhabitants.

The Roadshow at Lowestoft in 1999 was a good illustration of this.

One item brought in was a gold medal awarded for bravery which was given to the owner's father, a fisherman who had saved a colleague from drowning.

When filming at Blickling Hall the experts discovered several high value items.

Bunny Campione was delighted to find a Noah's Ark filled with 300 animals which had been the owner's fathers's only toy. The owner was surprised to learn that it was worth 拢20,000.

Expert fingers will be crossed in the hope that they will be unearthing yet more rare and exciting objects in Norfolk when the show comes to Holkham Hall.

People with large pieces of furniture or other big items can send details and photographs of their objects to: Antiques Roadshow, 成人论坛, Whiteladies Road, Bristol BS8 2LR or e-mail them to antiques.roadshow@bbc.co.uk.

It may be possible to arrange to look at the item in advance and organise transportation to the venue.

The Roadshow's doors open at 9.30 am and close at 4.30pm.
