Name: Ralph McLean
What's your Favourite album?
Live At San Quentin by Johnny Cash. I love the man in black and
this was the first album of his I ever heard. I still think it's
his greatest.
What is your greatest fear? Going deaf. If I lost the ability to hear music a massive
part of my life would be taken away.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Patience. I've never been very good at waiting.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Ever since I was a kid I've loved all kinds of music with a passion.
I can't get enough of the stuff.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Getting away with playing records and talking to celebrities
for a living rather than working down a mine is quite an achievement
if you ask me.
What do you like most about working at Radio Foyle?
It's a really friendly place where everybody knows everybody else
and looks out for one another.
I've been presenting and producing shows for 成人论坛 TV and Radio for
more than a decade now and I love every minute of it. In my time
presenting TV shows like First Stop, the 11th Hour and Belfast Festival
I've been lucky enough to interview many of my film and musical
heroes ...everyone from Tom Cruise to Harrison Ford, Mick Jagger
and Paul Weller. I've been very lucky.
I currently present McLeans Country, a roots show on Radio Foyle/Radio
Ulster every Saturday night that brings together the best of country
music old and new and has listeners in every far flung corner of
the world. I also write a weekly music column for the Sunday Life
and a weekly cult movie column for The Irish News.
If pushed I'd say my favorite song ever is is Wichta Lineman by
Glen Campbell and my favourite movie is Martin Scorcese's Goodfellas.
My ambition is to keep on presenting and producing for as long as
I possibly can.
