Trisha
Yearwood - Jasper County
Jasper County, on MCA Nashville, is the most inspired collection of heartfelt
ballads and lovelorn rockers to land on my desk in many a long year.
There鈥檚 just no denying the sheer quality of emotional epics like
Georgia Rain and smouldering blues work outs like Who Invented The Wheel.
Even if you鈥檇 never heard of the woman before you鈥檇 just have
to admit she was something special after just one listen.
Unlike a lot of modern country crooners she has the rare ability to get
to the heart of a song the moment she opens her mouth. Some artists have
to struggle to find the soul of a song yet with Trisha it鈥檚 clear
to anyone listening that this is one artist who knows the importance of
passion in their work.
Across the eleven songs on offer here we get to hear the Oklahoma based
songstress at her very best taking on the good times with the rock and
roll showstopper Gimme The Good Stuff and also delving deep into the personal
with tracks like River Of You. Whatever the emotion on show you always
believe it鈥檚 the real thing and in a musical world packed with fakers
and frauds that鈥檚 a pretty impressive feat.
Other songs on the album like Beth Neilson Chapman鈥檚 gorgeous Trying
To Love You show that the woman clearly knows a great tune when she hears
it but more than anything it鈥檚 that unique voice that shines through.
It鈥檚 no exaggeration to say that Trisha Yearwood has one of the
sweetest voices in country music.
