Enigma
As a Pole I am offended by this
film because:
1.Polish mathematicians did contribute ESSENSIALLY to
crack down the enigma machine, which was not said clearly
in the film.
2. The German spy in the film is of Polish nationality.
This is historically false because there were not such
person in reality in Bletchley Park. Moreover, as far
as I know, there is no evidence of any Polish spying
in Britain during the last war.
3. There was a great Polish contribution to defend Britain
during the war.
4.There were very cinic decisins regarding Poland by
UK governmet before, during and after the war: - Uk
did not help Poland after invasion in 1939 as promised
- UK did nothing in preventing Shoah while easly accusing
Poles of antisemitism - UK sold Poland to Stalin after
the war and condemned Poles for another 45 years of
the society distruction on each level - UK may be involved
in killing Polish prime minister Sikorski and does not
want to open archives to clarify the affair
5.I suggust you doing another movie about the the second
World war: in which another Polish spy tries to kill
Churchil but an honest German prisoner of war prevents
that. Then this heroic prisoner becomes a father of
Mick Jagger. I am sorry for my acid comment but you,
British, have your fixed values of your history. You
certanily would be offended if somebody plays with them.
So I am offended by the message of the film.

A.I.
Although i agree with some elements
of your review of A.I. (Haley Joel Osment's assured
performance, Spielberg's stunning visuals, and the amazing
effects), I have to disagree with giving the film five
out of five. Where the film falls down is on its gargantuan
running time and slowness of pace - at times the film
really drags and you find yourself checking your watch
to see how much of the film there is left to go. Also,
the film is cloyingly sentimental, and I for one couldn't
help but wonder how the film might have turned out if
it had been Kubrick at the helm rather than Spielberg...
I'm not one for sentimentality for sentimentality's
sake and, as such, find Spielberg's touch too heavy-handed
and schmaltzy. My rating would be 2 out of 5 - a failed
attempt at making what could have been an excellent
film in the hands of Stanley Kubrick.

Bridget Jones Diary
which roughly translates...
I am very sorry that I am not
writing in English, but I am very disgusted because
the film distributors have not brought the film to Chile.
I have to manage just with the book, which is excellent
as it reflects the male dominated and machist society
where women have to survive the best they can. Goodbye,

I loved the film v. much!!! The
fact is, I became a Bridget Jones myself because I learned
the useful facts of being single because of her. And
maybe, I'm just going to get over with this movie after

Moulin Rouge
If there's one film I'll remember
for a long time it is this one. A veritable orgy of
colour, movement, and sound! Only a mind as unencumbered
by convention as Luhrmanns could have come up with this
assault on the senses.
This movie could have bombed, maligned as just some
serendipity of musical anachronisms, but no, Luhrmann
actually pulls it off!
Suspend your disbelief, enjoy this film for what it
is.. two hours or so of utter escapism.
My incredulity only surfaced with the casting of Nicole
Kidman in the lead romantic role. (The jurys still
out on that one Im afraid). I was however pleased
that Ewan McGregor actually has a voice. So impressed,
in fact, that I bought the CD of the soundtrack the
very next day!
I left the cinema with a much higher esprit than when
I entered. Faint praise indeed!
Should you see the film? In the words of a famous sportswear
brand

Moulin Rouge
Dn't go truly don't go this is
a film about truth beauty freedom and love (as we are
reminded frequently during the show) it is also a frightening
beautiful emotional ride so if you're expecting a nice
sweet romance don't go and if you just want to see the
stars in a skimpy sexy cancan type film don't go but
if you want to sit down wide eyed through the most stunning
breathtaking whirl of emotions you will ever experience,
then still don't go, because that's what it is and it's
almost more than the human mind can take well that's
what i thought anyway, maybe the kid sitting behind
me enjoyed his view of ms kidmans cleavage who can say?

Bridget Jones's Diary
I liked very much Bridget Jones's
Diary, but I was realy surprised with the pressence
of Colin Firth, this guy is lovely, handsome, wonderful.
The first time I saw him was in Pride and Prejudice,
and I like him, but I thought he was an unknown actor.
After I saw the kiss he gives Bridget at the end of
the film, I started to be in love with him, then a searched
in the internet for all his films, and I found that
he has made a lot of them. It's a pitty he's married,
but now I'm his fan.

Shrek
I thought Shrek was an absolutely brilliant film! I
thought it had a very good soundtrack which i have consequently
bought!! I run a youth group for 11-15 yr old girls
and I think I have played "the truth about cats and
dogs" to death for it's line of self esteem and the
confidance to be you. I have now found another film
with the same sort of line!! They will be pleased!

Bridget Jones's Diary
Funny
funny film. Renee Zellweger is perfect as Bridget, texan
or not, she IS Bridget. I'm not usually a fan of Hugh
Grant but this time his bumbling idiocy made me laugh
and of course, then there's Colin Firth! Sooo charming
and sweet. We all asked for a Mr.Darcy after Pride &
Prejudice, now we are all begging for one. Is he the
cutest or what? This is one film I intend to watch time
and again. This gives hope to every single woman out
there but for the fact that Colin Firth is happily married!

A
wonderful effort - almost makes me wish I was single
again - if only the likes of Colin Firth were around
to lust after you!! I thought Renee Zellwegger was fantastic
at being a rough around the edges British girl. I say
more cellulite should be shown in the cinema. Colin
Firth reprises his Mr Darcy persona with absolute brilliance,
and the film is littered with Pride and Prejudice references.
For a wonderful evenings entertainment I would recommend
you catch this film now - and then buy it on video in
a few months so you can cheer yourself up with a good
laugh any time at home.

I am enthralled by this movie. I must confess that I
love the whole "chick flick" genre and this movie is
one of the best that I have seen in a long while. It's
not just that Hugh Grant is so sexy in it and Colin
Firth makes me weak in the knees....the whole film is
a comment on every woman from 25-40. We are a generation
of misfits and love sick fools...but soo cute. I recommend
this film to all.

Enemy At The Gates
Did any of the critics actually watch this film? I found
it a brilliant and entertaining film which left me breathless
and speechless at the end. The actors were beliveable
and the love story was not out of place. The fact that
Vasili and Tania got together caused Daniolov to get
more ruthless in his treatment of Sasha and Vassili
and to put both in more dangerous situations. I'm not
too sure why critics slammed it but I'm glad I didnt
listen to them.

13 Days
I think that Thirteen Days is the best movie of the
year... I particulary loved Bruce Greenwood as JFK..
I think he did a superb job, and was very upset that
he was not nominated for an academy. HIs was the best
portrayal of JFK I had ever seen. I was mesmerized...A
definite must see for all...
Leila Lee
Puyallup, Washington, USA
I thought the movie was as accurate as a "Hollywood"
version can be. Because of the taping system JFK had
installed in the White House at the time, most of the
dialogue is exactly what was said and heard. Regardless
of what one might feel about the Kennedy brothers, even
Nikita, they saved the world from something that would
have forever changed the course of human history. Jack
was 18 hours away from giving in to the "hawks", had
we invaded, our troops would have been wiped out by
the conventional nuclear weapons already in place on
the island of Cuba, thus forcing us to go to Defcon
1. Berlin would have been invaded, and we all know what
the end would have been. Possibly hundreds of millions
dead, mass destuction. I was 11 years old at the time,
growing up in Hollywood, Florida. I remember the troop
movements in the streets and the many encampments all
through out South Florida. Thank God cooler, wiser heads
prevailed! This movie is a must see for anyone i! nt!
erested in history!
Chuck Garbett
Roswell, Ga. USA
The
"13 Days" movie was excellent! All my family went to
see it. Personally, i have seen it more than once. I
liked Bruce Greenwood and Kevin Costner in this film.
It has saspens all the time. And, i am sure it will
be the movie of the year.

Memento
This
is the most unconventionaln film created by Hollywood
in years! The story line development was as original
as it gets, with the same dark nature of 'Fight Club'
(1999). This film was stunning, and undeserved of the
lack of mainstream release. 5 out of 5 Where are the

Hannibal
Don't go expecting another film of the same quality
as " Silence of the Lambs " and you probably won't be
dissapointed . Julianne Moore was a worthy replacement
for Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins was superb as Lecter
although I felt he played the part almost as a comic
book character. A good story and a okay ending . Not
as gory as the book was but still a few moments where
you need to close your eyes but only a few. NOT BAD
!!!
J Miles, Nottingham
A huge let down overall. This great and explosive ending
that everyone is talking about is absurd. Hopkin's does
not pull it off the same way, Moore is ok as the REPLACEMENT,
Ridly Scott is very Hollywood, Mamet is overrated and
only worte half of it. So again, Hannibal is seriously
overrated. Beleive me, though, that I am the last person
who wanted to say that.

Traffic
I think this film is overrated. It has no new message
- the drugs trade is a tricky business to deal with.
Soderbergh's use of tints are not exactly the most subtle
way of creating an atmosphere in a film - blue tints
for Washington - yellow for Mexico. It is also drawn
out. Not good for a weak bladder.

Cast
Away
Some people are never satisfied - I thought it was great!
I enjoyed the tantalising ending - a bit like a concerto
that almost ends ... and then carries on with a few more
bars ...and a few more ....until you wondr just how much
more there is to come. I'd give it 4 out of 5. (I've taken
off one mark for the scene with the live crab on a spear
- didn't like that. Guess I'd have to go vegetarian on a
deserted islnd.)
Janet Mayo, Loughborough
I thought it was incredibly boring ! , It could of been
made a lot more exciting , the plot was poor and in places
incredibly thin . The best part was the truly excellent
crash scene but after that like the plane the film dived
to the depths of the sea. Unfortunately the plot did not
have the depth that the sea had.
Julian Miles, Nottingham
Personally, i thought the film was very dramatic especially
the crash scene which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
The scenes in which he was talking to a basketball he named
"Wilson" provided comedy in an otherwise tearjerker film!!!

Vertical
Limit
I thought the film was dreadful. The acting was dire and
the storyline sacrificed credibility in favour of high adrenalin
action. The climbing scenes were so unbelievable to be farcical.
Picture this, two people harnessed to a rope, hanging over
an ice-capped cliff edge. The only thing preventing then
from falling is the tip of an ice axe precariously positioned
at the edge. The lower one of the pair then starts swinging
and manages to find a grip on a ledge. This all happens
without the ice axe moving an inch, I don't think so. Not
a film for climbers, like me you'd probably be cringing
at the stupidity of the climbing scenes.
