The murals at Chippy's theatre were painted in 1996 by Graham Rust, whose work also appears in several stately homes, including Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. It wasn't only the bar area that he painted. "Chipping Norton must now boast the most attractive theatre lavatories in the country," said The Guardian newspaper, "decorated in Graham Rust's murals, with a joke on every tile."
The artist incorporated a riddle within the murals, with the following clue: "The witches know that moonlight shows... the answer to our earthly woes."
