Monarch of the Glen
The cast of Monarch of the Glen

Monarch of the Glen - series seven

Starts this September on 成人论坛 ONE

Introduction

Everybody loves a happy ending. It's the end of an era as the curtain falls on the magical landscape of Glenbogle for the very last time.

However, while everyone hopes for a happy ever after, the inhabitants must first battle to keep Glenbogle within the MacDonald family.

In an ever-changing world, the family's historic position at Glenbogle is under serious threat and Paul must take control to make the debt-ridden estate work once and for all if the family are to remain there forever.

Much of the weight of this responsibility falls on the shoulders of Monarch Paul (Lloyd Owen). He's finally achieved the respect of the community and is fiercely protective of Glenbogle and the people that live there. He is, after all, a MacDonald.

The final series of the feel-good show sees some much-loved faces from the past reunited with current characters, bringing some long-simmering storylines to a close.

Adding to the sense of celebration is the return of local aristocrat Kilwillie (Julian Fellowes), loveable ghillie Duncan (played by Hamish Clark) and perhaps most poignant of all is a ghostly reappearance in the final episode of the series from eccentric Hector (Richard Briers).

Hector is never far from Molly's (Susan Hampshire) thoughts and she's reluctant to take the next step in her emotional life without his guidance.

Kilwillie clearly still holds a torch for her, but then there is the undeniable bond between Golly (Sandy Morton) and Molly to consider.

Now bringing up a baby on his own, the one-time brooding loner suddenly has to let his guard down and turn to his family and friends - in particular Molly - for help.

Glenbogle is looking to the future and all its inhabitants seem close to finding happiness - unlucky-in-love Paul meets a beautiful local shepherdess called Iona (played by series newcomer Kirsty Mitchell); Duncan and Jess (Rae Hendrie) are reunited at baby Cameron's christening; and even cheeky young chef Ewan (Martin Compston) finds a bond in mischief-making with Amy (series newcomer Kellyanne Farquhar), Paul's runaway goddaughter.

Meanwhile, eccentric Donald (Tom Baker), who returned to Glenbogle very much against his will last year, is finally at peace with his surroundings. He has fallen for the poetic charm of the Highland idyll and, along with the rest of the clan, is determined Glenbogle will remain with a MacDonald as its laird for generations to come.

"Having this wonderful finale demonstrates how much the 成人论坛 value the show and to have the opportunity to write 'The End' is almost unique in British television today," explains Executive Producer Gaynor Holmes.

"Over the last seven years, the audience has taken the MacDonald family to their hearts and those loyal viewers deserve to be given a proper ending.

"And of course, this being Monarch, there is no doubt that many of those endings will be happy.

"I'm sure the cast and crew that have been involved with the show since the beginning will be feeling incredibly proud of themselves.

"The long-running success of Monarch in over 30 countries worldwide is an enormous achievement. Yes it's sad to go, but everyone is gladdened that we can say goodbye on a high."

In addition to the existing Monarch cast, producer Rob Bullock is pleased to welcome former cast members back to the show for its grand finale - particularly Richard Briers.

He says: "For me, having Richard back was the key and the thing that was needed to make the last episode really special. To give it that feeling of coming full circle.

"When we leave the big house for the very last time, you'll get the sense that everything is as it should be in Glenbogle and that the characters' lives will continue to be happy - long after the final credits have rolled."
