Sinchronicity听

Navin Chowdhry as Mani

Sinchronicity

Navin Chowdhry plays Mani

If Nathan's life is slightly on the wild side, Mani's in a whole other dimension, flying by the seat of his pants.

He's a doctor who's well respected by his colleagues, but he's not averse to dabbling in 'medicines' of the recreational kind, and he may never have been in love but he's in lust every night of the week.

When he crashes into Nathan, Jase and Fi's world, the result may be troublesome, but it'll never be dull.

Navin says: "When the audience first meets Mani it would be easy for them to assume he is a hedonistic drug dealer. He exudes an element of mystery, or danger perhaps, and through the course of the series when you get to know him you realise there is a lot more to him.

"Mani is a bit different to the other characters because he feels that he has sorted all of his issues out and has no emotional baggage while all of the others are in turmoil, dragged down by theirs.

"He is the driving force for Nathan (Paul Chequer) and Jase (Daniel Percival) to come to terms with their relationship and face up to their problems, advising them from his own experience to try to accept that they had to face up to their situation to be able to move on and put the problems behind them.

"I enjoyed working on Sinchronicity because I was able to improvise with Mani a lot, changing bits of dialogue and adopting body language traits. The director Brian Grant was open to all of our ideas which was really rewarding, and I think the combination made Mani a more rounded and realistic character."

Navin Chowdry was born and raised in Bristol. He made his professional debut aged 15 in John Schlesinger's critically-acclaimed film Madame Sousatzka, starring alongside Shirley MacLaine and Peggy Ashcroft.

Several films followed co-starring with actors such as Peter O'Toole and Nigel Hawthorne.

In 1994 Navin graduated with 2:1 from Imperial College London, where he completed a three-year bio-chemistry degree whilst still managing to work on several TV projects along the way.

Since then Navin has played Kurt in Channel 4's drama Teachers and Raph in Channel 4's Ny-Lon. Other recent TV work includes Golden Hour, New Tricks, Judge John Deed and Waking the Dead.

Navin has also written and produced a handful of projects including the award-winning short film This Bastard Business and a short play called Mashed which was performed at the Bristol Old Vic.
