Hermione Norris plays Ros Myers
Ìý
Ros is a new main character in the series. How would you
describe her?
Ìý
Ros Myers has the Secret Service in her blood. Literally.
Her father is a business mogul with high-ranking
political links, and the world of politics and espionage
is all she knows. And it's all she wants to know.
Ìý
She's
married to her job, utterly uncompromising, ruthless and
would do anything for what she believes to be the
'greater good'.
Ìý
She's really good at her job – and she
knows it.
All of which makes her great fun to play because she's not like me at all!
Ìý
How did you find joining an established cast and long-running series?
Ìý
It very much felt like being the new girl at school and it was quite daunting. But I have to say everyone has been lovely. And they are so funny. Everyone is laughing all the time. It's almost a problem to get serious when the action starts because you are laughing so much. I've really enjoyed it.
Ìý
How would you describe Ros' relationship with Adam?
Ìý
Adam recruits Ros from MI6, but she feels that she's very much on an equal footing to him. So when she first arrives on the Grid she's determined to establish herself and is quite cool towards him.
Ìý
They have quite a combative relationship. They respect each other but they both like to challenge one another all the time. They are quite similar in personality and in that, for both of them, the job comes first.
Ìý
What do we know about Ros' private life?
Ìý
I think the job is her life and that's what she wants everyone to think. The only glimpse we get into her past is when she's looking after a witness who nearly gets killed on her watch. To save his life without leaving any sort of trail, she makes an emergency call to an ex-boyfriend, who's a doctor. That opens the lid a fraction on her otherwise well-contained, private life.
Ìý
Do you have any stunt scenes in the series?
Ìý
Yes I did and I love them. Unfortunately, I didn't come off too well from the latest one. Nothing serious, just a carpet burn, but it hurt like hell. But that's part of the fun of acting – the unpredictability!
Ìý
Spooks has a habit of killing of characters without any warning - so, without giving too much away, will we be seeing you in the next series?
Ìý
Well, I'm in every episode of this series and I'd love to do another if I make it through unscathed, but that's all I'm saying!
