Wales Today prepares for summer tour

Jamie Owen and Derek Brockway will be broadcasting Wales Today live from across the country throughout next week (Monday 30 July to Friday 3 August).

With broadcast locations suggested by viewers, the bulletins at 1.30pm and 6.30pm will come live from a different coastal area each day.
Ìý
As well as delivering live news, Jamie and Derek will meet local people and explore the areas.
Ìý
Jamie's morning show on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Wales will also be broadcast each day at 11am from the same locations, with weather updates from Derek.

The tour will visit the following places:

Monday: Worms Head, Gower Peninsula – Jamie and Derek meet the cliff rescue services and find out what marine life is on the causeway over to Worms Head.

Tuesday: Strumble Head Lighthouse near Fishguard – They meet the lighthouse assistant for Strumble Head and find out why the spot is so important for bird-watchers. Jamie's Radio Wales show is also broadcast from the Fishguard Bay Hotel.

Wednesday: Aberaeron – The tour reaches Aberaeron at the height of its bicentenary celebrations, the Stars On The Square concert which features world renowned artistes, harpist Catrin Finch and bass baritone Jason Howard. Jamie's Radio Wales show is also broadcast fom the Harbourmaster Hotel.

Thursday: Fairbourne near Barmouth – At the invitation of a locally–based RAF corporal, Jamie and Derek will be at the area's steam railway for the Fairbourne Annual Race The Train event. The pair also visit the RAF training centre in Fairbourne to try out high-ropes, canoeing and climbing. Jamie's Radio Wales show is broadcast from the car park of the narrow gauge railway.

Friday: Llanberis – Jamie and Derek will be in the area to find out more about the traditional skills of slate cutting. Further details to be announced.
