CBeebies to show 3rd & Bird
CBeebies, the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s channel for younger viewers, is to broadcast 3rd & Bird, a new animated pre-school series all about community.
Ìý
3rd & Bird was created by Josh Selig and is being produced in London and New York by his company Little Airplane Productions. The supervising producer of the series is Heather Tilert, former producer of The Wonder Pets!
Ìý
Executive produced by Kay Benbow and Chris Rose for CBeebies, 3rd & Bird has been created in bold and colourful photo-puppetry animation – a style of animation uniquely created by production company Little Airplane.
Ìý
The vibrant treetop community of 3rd & Bird is alive with singing, whistling and dancing.
Ìý
Each beautifully crafted episode is filled with music and songs revolving around the lives of Samuel and Muffin Lovebird and their friend Rudy, who live, learn and play in the branches of a beautiful old tree.
Ìý
Through the stories told in the series about diversity, tolerance or perseverance, it will help children to develop social skills that are integral to the functioning of a healthy community.
Ìý
Each episode will see Samuel and Muffin encountering a problem relevant to the pre-school age, such as making a new friend, learning a new skill or going somewhere for the first time.
Ìý
Though covering important social issues, the programme is clever, playful and full of comedy.
Ìý
Kay Benbow, Head of CBeebies Production, Animation and Acquisitions, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Little Airplane on this enchanting programme.
Ìý
"Josh Selig has created a beautiful series – an 'animated musical' – which is sure to delight the CBeebies audience.
Ìý
"It will sit perfectly alongside other CBeebies titles that reflect the importance of community and social responsibility, including Something Special and EcoBeebies."
Ìý
The series will transmit in autumn 2008 and each episode will be 9 minutes 30 seconds.
