The Cup – a six-part comedy series for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two
Dominic Coleman plays Vincent Farrell
Vincent Farrell is played by Dominic Coleman, whose many television appearances include a role in Pulling opposite his wife in The Cup, Tanya Franks.
Ìý
Vincent is Sandra's long-suffering husband who is desperate for his tomboy daughter Ali to turn her interests to ballet rather than football.
Ìý
Dominic sets the scene: "Vincent's family firm sponsors the kids' football team at the request of his wife Sandra who's a bit of a football fanatic.
Ìý
"He actually isn't particularly interested but goes to the matches because his daughter is also pretty obsessed with the game; and he's just desperate for her to at least acknowledge that she's a girl!"
Ìý
He laughs: "During the course of the series we see that Vincent is having a pretty tough time as the business isn't doing so well, so if anybody dies there's a real celebration to be had!"
Ìý
As a dad, Dominic can identify with Vincent's dilemmas: "You do inevitably get dragged into events sometimes against your better judgement: sports days, hobbies, matches, all those sorts of things.
Ìý
"I can understand the competitive nature of parenthood; my kids are six and ten so just the right kind of age for pushy parents to rear their ugly heads – I'm trying to fight that urge."
Ìý
Vincent found the way the scripts had been written very believable: "The scripts are fantastic. We're playing very real people and we'd like to think that people switching the series on could at first glance think it's a documentary. I think people should be able to relate to the series almost immediately."
