Colin Murray will join 5 Live Sport as part of a new look to ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live's flagship sport programme from the start of the 2009/10 football season, which includes an increased role for Mark Pougatch.
Murray, who joins after ten years on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 1, is a regular voice on 5 Live having presented Fighting Talk (Saturdays during the football season 11.00am-12.00noon) since 2006, as well as deputising for Simon Mayo and on 5 Live Sport.
He also presents football coverage on television, and joins the show from August as part of a refreshed line-up on the programme. He will present 5 Live Sport on Friday evenings, previewing the weekend's sporting action, and host the show on a Sunday through the afternoon of live Premier League football.
Mark Pougatch, a seasoned voice across the 5 Live schedule, will have increased presenting responsibilities hosting 5 Live Sport on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, including the big Champions League and international football fixtures. He will continue to anchor the programme on Saturdays including Sports Report at 5.00pm.
Joining Colin as a regular 5 Live Sport presenter is Arlo White who will host Monday nights, including the Monday Night Football Club, a key strand in the show throughout the season, with all the latest football news and debate. Arlo has presented 5 Live Sport before and is a member of the Test Match Special commentary team.
Eleanor Oldroyd moves to Thursday nights from her previous berth on Sundays, presenting the UEFA Europa League coverage and hosting London Calling, a regular feature counting down to the London Olympics in 2012.
Radio 5 Live Controller Adrian Van Klaveren said: "This is a really exciting line-up for 5 Live Sport for next season. Colin's energy, wit and enthusiasm for sport is infectious and I'm sure listeners will enjoy hearing much more of him on Radio 5 Live. Mark, Eleanor and Arlo are familiar to our listeners and provide a really good mix across the programme."
Colin Murray said: "I'm honoured to be given these new shows on Radio 5 Live. With it comes a responsibility to deliver the best sporting radio content anywhere in the world, and I intend to give 100% while introducing my own style of presentation.
"It's such an exciting time for the station and it's a pleasure to be part of that. Although it was a really hard decision to leave Radio 1 after nearly a decade, I felt it was the right time to make the change. I'm as excited now as I was when I first started radio."
The 2009/10 football season on Radio 5 Live will have more live football commentary than any other broadcaster covering the Premier League, international matches, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Championship and Football Leagues, the UEFA Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup) and the Football League Cup as well as reports and news from all the Scottish competitions.
