Nick Grimshaw is set to launch an exciting new show on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 1 following the announcement that Colin Murray, after ten great years at the station, is joining ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 5 Live.
Nick moves to his new Monday to Thursday, 10.00pm-12midnight, slot from the weekend breakfast show but will continue to co-host Switch with Annie Mac on Sunday nights.
Starting in June, the new show promises to be an energetic mix of specialist music, entertainment and guests.
Ben Cooper, Head of Programmes, Radio 1, says: "It will be fantastic to get Nick's mix of humour, music and guests on four nights a week. I look forward to it soon becoming the 'must listen to' show for our young audiences."
Nick Grimshaw adds: "I'm so excited to be taking on a whole new challenge. Doing an evening show for Radio 1 is something I've always dreamed of and I can't wait to start."
The plans for the weekend breakfast show will be announced shortly. Nick has presented the weekend show since September last year and is hugely popular with listeners.
Nick Grimshaw's television credits include ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Two's Sound, Freshly Squeezed for Channel 4 and the music strand on E4.
For Radio 1 he currently presents the weekend breakfast show (7.00-10.00am Saturdays and Sundays) as well as co-hosting Switch with Annie Mac 7.00-10.00pm every Sunday evening.
Prior to this Nick was a radio plugger and DJ promoter.
