Organ recitals
The historic "Father" Willis organ, one of the biggest and most expensive instruments ever built when it was completed in 1871, is showcased in its full glory in two late-afternoon organ recitals.
Stephen Farr makes his Proms debut with music by JS Bach, Jehan Alain and anniversary composer Liszt. He also plays the world premiere of Judith Bingham's The Everlasting Crown, a large-scale solo piece composed for him ().
Thierry Escaich, organist of St-脡tienne-du-Mont in Paris, also makes his debut with music by JS Bach, Reger, Franck and Liszt. He plays the UK premiere of his own 脡vocation III and improvises on themes by Liszt ().
The organ is also featured prominently in two Proms with David Goode. He joins the 成人论坛 Symphony Orchestra for Jan谩膷ek's Glagolitic Mass () and returns with the 成人论坛 National Orchestra of Wales for the London premiere of Michael Berkeley's Organ Concerto (). Thomas Trotter plays music by Dupr茅 alongside Saint-Sa毛ns's Organ Symphony ().
