The Trailfinders South African Wine Estate

The garden is inspired by the Winelands of the Western Cape of South Africa (Franschhoek and Stellenbosch being the best known areas), which are regarded as some of the most instantly recognisable and strikingly beautiful wine producing regions in the world.
The architecture of the charming Cape Dutch homesteads, with their pretty verandas and neat, manicured gardens, give way to the wonderfully evocative vineyards themselves, which can be seen dotted about the valleys of the Cape Fold Mountains.
It is these mountains, with their distinctive fynbos - a fire-adapted vegetation that requires regular burning in order to survive - which make the South African wine estates so unique among their peers. By drawing on all of these elements, the designer aims to bring a snapshot of a traditional South African wine estate, sitting in the fynbos landscape, to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Fynbos will be represented as the evergreen,鈥╤ard-leaved Mediterranean type shrubland that it鈥� is, with occasional splashes of primary colour and鈥╱nusually shaped leaves, in contrast to the calmer, softer colours of the homestead garden with fresher green foliage.
