Episode 21
Gardening tips and features. It is harvest time in the Beechgrove Garden, and Jim reaps a bumper crop of squashes, pumpkins, aubergines and peppers.
The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is upon us. And in the Beechgrove Garden, it's a bumper harvest all round. Jim is harvesting squashes and pumpkins, aubergines and peppers.
Meanwhile, Carole assesses the comparative yields of the compact courgettes grown by three different methods and does the same with the strawberries as there are still some to eat on the late fruiting varieties. Don, Beechgrove's head gardener, also creates a stunning display of Beechgrove produce.
Lesley is harvesting in her new wee 'Tuscan Feast' garden. The garden is only 4m x 4m but is proudly productive. Lesley gives us the recipe that takes her harvest from fork to fork.
Jim revisits Heathryfold allotments. Jim and Carole went to see the 'plotters', as they call themselves, some weeks back and Jim returns to see how the season has treated them and what their harvest brings.
Carole is with Rora Paglieri in her beautiful and impressive garden near Buckie. We first visited in 2001 when we saw the courtyard, which is the centrepiece of the garden. Now Carole returns to see a new yew maze that Rora has developed, and they also venture into Rora's new vegetable patch to see what is ready for harvesting there.
